Kinda the era I grew up in, so many different musical influences I can remember.

Madness/Bad Manners/The Beat/Special AKA (I was quite into Ska as a yoof).

saw some good gigs too, Adam and the Ants, Transvision Vamp, Bad News (was hilarious).

God the memories are flooding back now....

Agree with a lot of the above, best era for music imo so many to chose from many great bands at there best.

Smiths, New order and the cure were my personal influences although practically every song posted so far if it came on the radio would make me smile and my girlfriend wince as I dance around the room
