Trojan?

Hmm, these past few days/weeks have been very suspicious while surfing the net/playing counterstrike...

When i play CounterStrike and leave the Game, my Firewall (Norton Internet Security 2001) tells me that people are trying to access my computer using Trojans (mostly Sub7 / BO2k) now this happens at LEAST 5 times a day almost everyday, and its gettin me a bit worried....

whoever is doing it is really intent on trying to gain access on my computer...

But when i do a Virus Scan obviously its not gonna get picked up (If i have a Trojan somewhere) because Trojans arent like Virus'... but i just wanna know why after i play CounterStrike..?

I am startin to think as if someone has created somethin which ya download (a skin or somethin) and once installed it acts like a Server...

i am gonna search the net for a specific Trojan Scanner (gonna try Pest Patrol 1st) and see if anythin gets detected.....


anyone have any ideas in the meantime?

Only an executable file can be a trojan, so unless you're a complete retard(which i suspect you are), you cannot get infected with one by downloading a few skins.

I believe virus scanners can detect known trojans.

Trojans normally enter stuff in the registry.

TBH download www.zonealarm.com and see what it detects, even though its free it's better than Norton.

I recomend Sygate Personal Firewall if u go to their webby it can test for Trojans, TDS Trojan Defense Suite can remove them u may also want to try an AD Aware program incase its something of that nature and incase u don't know it www.zdnet.com has lots of useful free PC software toys u can dl. gl

Might it be something to do with the anti-cheat system trying to scan your computer? Dunno why it would say it was a trojan. Just seems a little strange it only happens when you quit CS. Just an idea I had, probably wrong

Use Zonealarm and a decent virus scanner, they will detect trojans.

Muppets. Norton Personal Firewall is more advanced than Zonealarm or other crap free firewalls. All its telling you is that some 13 year old pleb who downloaded Sub7 has scanned your IP to see if it can possibly connect to a trojan, so he can control your box. NPF said "fuck off I don't exist" so even if you we're trojaned (which your not) nothing bad has happened.

gah I hate firewalls, they make peeps in to paranoid fools.

check the IP that got blocked, is it the same as the server u were playing on, or even the IP of your ISP's mail servers? They "ping" you once in a while to see if your "still there"

Your firewall may think its a "subseven whatever" but its obviously not. Plus the fact its blocked access to your PC there's nowt to worry about.

Think back to the days before u installed FW software, you worried a lot less about such trival things

At least it's no way near as bad as the older versions, one of which couldn't even stop some of the basic attacks

Although the most effective Firewall is hardware based...something like Sonicwall.

I told one of my Mates last night about this Problem i have been having, and his immediate responce was GAMESPY, and its pretty strange because when he mentioned that, i do remember actually using it to connect to the servers.... and when i quit THEN i would get Scanned...

So i am gonna check up soon to see if it only does the stuff when i use GameSpy to connect...

Anyone else have these sorta probs with GameSpy?

dont worry about all these warnings on Norton.
The Norton thing (along with a lot of firewalls) pick up people SCANNING your ports for any trojans.
Recieving these warnings is quite normal for "script kiddies" scan random ports a lot.

I for one pick up hundereds of scans on my machine but it doesnt mean there is a trojan installed.
You cant stop them doing this but basically, just ignore it, you shouldn't have a trojan and with all these scans you are getting, if you did, someone would have done something by now
