Tribes 2, worth buying?

I had a pentium 1 before when the first tribe came out, i was drooling for a chance to play and never got it. Now i got a really good computer and i could play the tribes 2 if i wanted, but is it really worth it? i mean , i have counter strike and still have fun playing it, but what do you guys think?

Personally I havnt played CS since I got T2. Played CS from day 1 too. As I did for HL sp and TFC, DoD and FLF. ...basically Im just fed up with HL. So T2 is new and fresh and great game. It's VGCA! (you will understand that when you get the game )

heh alright im gona by it. Are the guns good? is it long to kill someone? how do the vehicles handle?

Personal opinion : ON

Guns... are good. There are those who say that the guns aren't as meaty as they were in Tribes, and it is true to an extent. However the variety of weapons makes it good.

Long to kill someone... not really.

Vehicles... handle like a sloth on Valium (ie. slow to respond). That said, if you get the hang of controlling vehicles it gets fun. One of my personal faves is the grav-cycle... screaming along at 200kph catching air over every bump.

OMG GET IT, GET IT NOW.

It has so much more depth than CS and ANY other team game. I mean take your average game of unreal tournament. You have a few people defending, a few people attacking the flag and a few people in a mid field position.

All the attackers do is run and try and overwhelm the defenders and get out with flag.

In tribes 2 there are so many roles to fill it is incredible.

You have all your cappers and fag defenders etc, but then you have people laying out pulse/motion sensors to increase your bases sensor network, people laying remote turrets, peopledoing bombing runs, people "ferrying" heavys into battle with the havoc.

It has such incredible depth.

I havn't left a server out of boredom yet, usually because I have a RL important thing to do, or connection gives in. I have been playing for a month solid now, every game i play, the more i like it.

Someone said that T2 has more depth than CS - Good and bad. Unless you're in a clan you're going to have a really frustrating time as a newbie. No-one ever answers my questions (e.g., I had their flag, they had ours - Q: Hey guys, should I hang back safely or help you recapture our flag? A: Fuck off newbie whore!) and there are a lot of questions

If you're clanned I imagine everything changes. But I'm not. 'Cause I'm crap

BW need some newbie servers to help people break into the game (or, if they already have some can you point me towards them)

Not every person is like that. We were all Newbies at one time and when I was this really nice guy taught me the ropes of CS.

BW need some newbie servers to help people break into the game (or, if they already have some can you point me towards them)

BW newbie servers is a good idea (the've done it with TFC), but some experienced lamer would come on it and beat the hell outta everyone.

I wish I could get T2 but my laptop won't be able to handle it

As you can see, a few people don't like the game. But in most cases, it is only people who don't take their time to get used to the game. They don't learn how to ski and then call the game slow. Get it, play through all the tutorials, read the manual, play constantly, after a few weeks you will become very familiar with the maps and how to cap/defend on each one, only then will the game seem fast.

I can tell you, no other computer game brings the rush of adrenelin like T2 when you have the flag, skiing back at mach-10 with shrikes dropping from the clouds trying to take you out. It is a feeling I get every game i play in T2, and never got during 1 year i played CS for. Thankfully T2 let me quit CS and i havn't looked back.
