45 mins into ep 1 and moving to Cumbria and kicking old people in the nuts is seeming like a good idea right about now.

How does it start? Impossibly stupidly and slowly like The Wire, or does it actually bother to introduce things? :D

Slowly, but there is more going on than in the Wire. Character development is a big thing though, so don't expect much until you are a few episodes in.

Fuck it then, got far more entertaining things to watch ahead of it.

Don't worry Wazz, you'd have hated it anyway, because it's clearly good.

It probably is good, I'd personally rather not wade through a few hours of dullness just for it to start getting good though. If I had the time to I would, but I don't - so excellent stuff that is always captivating and entertaining, like Breaking Bad, takes massive preference over glacial drama.

It's not boring, it's slow paced, it has very good character building. Most of the scenes focus on characters interactions with other characters, there is always something happening and you learn something with nearly all the dialogue.

You are assuming it's dull because I said it's slow paced with character building, you are wrong.

I'm assuming I'd be spending a lot of time watching what you described, which I find dull sometimes. Not always, sometimes. If I find it dull, then it is dull to me. That does not make me wrong. It means I have an opinion of.... MY OWN.

So far nothing has happened except one guy stole some records, and got drunk.

Wazz ffs!

You liked The Road but you won't give this a try for fear of it being dull? Jesus H Christ after The Road and the enjoyment you got from it you could sit through chinese water torture and find it thrilling

Having said the above I downloaded Treme but can't manage to watch it/commit to it after coming from Sons of Anarchy, which I thought was fantastic. Not sure I have a slow moving series in me at the minute.

Is Mad Men any good?

Unless they all board a flight, get transported through time onto one of the planes that hit the world trade centre and the series ends 45 mins into the flight I don't think I can even think about watching another episode.

I'd read the book first and loved it, of course I was going to love the film! Plus, it's only 1hr40 and the whole thing is done. 1hr 30 and look at what ECA says has happened... and he's normally a right pretensious arse about these things. :D

People just seem too eager to be cool and like The Wire cos everyone says it's the best thing ever. They're wrong. :D

The Wire IS the best thing ever.

Hmmm you never said you had read the book, if you love a book the film either is a massive let down or really well done, so I guess if The Road was done as it played out in your head while reading the book then that makes the film good for you. I was so pleased Fight Club was done well.

The Wire is awesome but I haven't got past season 3 for some reason.

I know what is really going on here. ECA has been hacked by Wazz. He probably infected him with a virus through the backdoor, I hear that is his speciality.

So The Road is worth a watch? My sister brought me that on her visit up in Skirtland, looking forward to watching it.

Trem, I told you on FB that the book was ace and talked about it at a reasonable length. Shame on you.

The Road is definitely worth a watch. It may be a little sad and bleak for some but it is utterly fantastic.

You're alone.

I've told you before, it's not awful. It's not bad at all, you just didn't like it!
