Transposing songs

I recently restrung my acoustic guitar using gauge 13 strings to try and toughen up my fingers some more and to give more beef to the general sound of it. All has worked well and with a little bit of wearing in, the strings themselves feel as they did with my 10's. I've currently got it tuned to straight D tuning as a preference and was looking for some freeware software which would transpose for example a standard E tuning song down two frets, including vocals etc, without the song itself slowing down.

I know I could use a capo and all and I have been but certain songs I'd much rather sing in D tuning as well so if anyone could recommend a decent bit of free software to do this job, it'd be reptastic

have you heard of a program called Guitar Pro? you can get it from a certain place wink wink, and its probably the best bit of guitar tab software there is.
there is a transposing feature on it, and its great to write your own songs and then play them back using the RSE (realistic sound engine). i wholly recommend it. even if you want to go the whole legal route its not even that expensive.

Have got powertab at the moment and guitar pro somewhere around on my computer, heh. Doesn't that only transpose music which has been written into it though instead of doing real songs?

you can download the tab for the song you want from 911Tabs - tabs search engine // 2,000,000 tabs. Guitar, bass, drums, guitar pro and power tabs! or somesuch place, make sure you get the guitar pro version, and then you can transpose that to the tuning you want by clicking on the instrument you want to transpose in the bottom left corner, and it should change the whole of that instruments track into the tuning you want.

/edit you can download the powertab version as well, then in GP, import and choose to import PT versions.

Aye, I was after a program which plays the actual song though, vocals, drums, everything as it is on a cd, except transposed down...I know it's doable, just not completely sure where to get a bit of software that can do it
