Transferring to US servers

Has anyone ever done this? I spoke to GOA about it and, suprise suprise they said they were 2 entirely different products and i would have to buy a US version of the game as well.

Surely it is just a matter of adding the addresses for the US patch and play servers to the Euro DAoC client?

Well thanks in advance anyway

Are you sure you want this?

You have to play with americans; If you never met anyone yet, they are generally dumb and not very nice, seriously.

You will also get a higher ping, ie alot harder RvR, etc...

Did I mention the americans?

I played on US for a year before I moved to EU. The only reason I moved was that primetime RvR was at about 3-4am my time (UK time).

Ignore the xenophobia, yep some americans are dumb, a lot more are great people and the EU has its fair share of idiots too. What people forget is that its not just Americans on there, I grouped with people from all over the world and it made it damn enjoyable. Some of the best, friendliest guilds were made up of Japanese, Australian, South African players - all sorts. Another thing...there are a HELL of a lot of Brits and other European players on there too. I played Mid/Bors for a bit and Svea Rike Livgarde are a swedish only guild for example. Prob why the 2 english speaking servers on EU arent so populated imo. Btw Morgan Le Fay always seems to be regarded as the unofficial Euro server too.

Good luck

you could always be a bad boy and buy a EU account from someone as there always for sale and just use you USA copy of the game and just change the address in the update.dat file so you get the EU version of the game.

i think that would work.

I originally bought US version by mistake, because the box (back in feb 02) was a lot bigger and shinier and better presented. Didnt even realise it was US till i got it home. Played hib on Merlin and was reasonably happy there.

One of my good friends then decides to get DAOC, unfortunately its quite hard to get hands on a US copy now, so I made the switch to EU in September so I could play with my friend. To be honest I havent looked back.

Want my advice dont bother, stay on EU, not a lot of difference really, unless you like doing raids at 5am

USA

Played on USA servers now for a while - almost limitless combination of realms/servers (cooperative server too), lag is often better than the connection to French servers from UK and I've made a lot of very good friends!
