Vinyl > CD or CD > Vinyl I don't really understand or care... but could one of you peoeple PLEASE tell me how Cassette could POSSIBLY be considered any good at all... it's the shittyest medium ever invented it sounds soooo low quality FFS... Granted it was great because it was the first portable medium ever really invented but hey! Cassette should surely be redundant when we have MDs etc?

On another note I don't like vinyl because it's a pain in the ass :p It's too big to store... it's fussy about what temp/ humidity it needs to be stored at and I'm quite clumsy and usually end up scratching them right away for that reason MD owns CD which in turn owns vinyl..... :)

It's all horses for courses tbh.

Except for cars, I'd like you to fit an in-car 12" player :/

Actually, you could buy 7' record players for cars at one time, but the force needed to keep the stylus in the groove was so great that the records would wear out quickly.

Cassettes can still sound good, provided you know the correct level to record at, and what noise reduction to use, and having a decent cassette recorder.

Cassettes have been around for about 35 years so give em a break!

Most of the best albums of all time ever were recorded onto Tape. It's a fantastic medium, maybe not at consumer level, but a good playback system will still sound lovely.

As for the bit about Vinyl, having to care for it is part of the appeal. It's like knocking an old Jag that you need to take care of (to use a car analogy) and instead choosing to drive a Toyota. Sure the Toyota is probably more convienient, but it'll never ever be as sexy as the Jag.

Also Nos-, in car record players do exist, I'll see if I can scare up a few pictures of them.

From that mass of badly spelt shite I assume you don't like cassettes yes? Well, my Pioneer deck makes even a well ripped mp3 sound like utter turd and makes even MD's sound compressed and flat. It can't compare to a CD, but if the tape is recorded from a CD it still sounds pretty damn good.

What can I say, audio equipment doesn't flick my switch :p, granted I've never had much money to spend on it... I was just voicing my opinion as someone who knows little about the subject and seeing how valid/invalid it was based on the responce :)

I can see where you're all coming from though... I'm a big fan of older marshall valve (guitar) amps... some of them I've played in music stores or used firends parents' etc give a beautiful "warm" sound... and generally the tone can be alot better..... although having said that a cheapass 50watt marshall digital combo was all I could afford and therefore all I have...
