I could be mistaken but I don't remember RvR being anymore fucked up after the Foundations release than before the Foundations release... And as for Frontiers, well considering all your really going on is guess work from what you've read do you really feel you know enough about how it works to judge whether it will or will not ruin RvR anymore than the players already have (We all know how shoddy Mythic's documentation is :( )

No but it's pretty obvious that they'll fuck up again.

I mean it's good what they're doing, the community feedback. But if you think further than that, didn't they introduce TL's for that?

And how often does Mythic listen to their TL's? 1 out of 10 times where the 1 is a minor thing opposed to major things but get left behind?

I think we all know Mythic by now, and if they did actually care about the community and went around the new proposed RA list in a way we'd all be satisfied, I'd be more than suprised to see it, then again it's also impossible to satisfy everyone at once, but they could think for the sake of game balance atleast.

Which they are not, otherwise they wouldn't have TOA had made "impact on RvR".

Things that changed Daoc.

1. SC and Alch (Armor/Weapon drops became worthless)
2. Trials of Atlantis (Many months of PvE)
3. Realm Abilities (Now it actually ment something to be a higher RR)
4. Spiritmasters PBAOE (It took a few months before PL became a well known subject)
5. Darkness Falls (I remember the rush to take keeps, and when you got DF access you jumped from the wall to suicided and enter DF before we lost access). At the same time Lair(Malmo) was 100% dead and I was just 1 level from 50 :(
6. SI (New races and classes.. most pretty useless in RvR except Savages :p, new uber items and quests)

Foundations was a nice thing they added, but wasn't a milestone for Daoc imo.
Epic armors was nice until SC was introduced.
Battlegrounds had a huge impact on the RvR in emain the first month or so.. since I was 40+ I noticed no more green cons that I could kill.
/level 20 was both bad and good..

Milestones in my opinions, and not always good things and in no particular order.

1) The RA system
2) The emergence of the l33t culture among a lot of rvr players
3) Buffbots, making it almost impossible to rvr without a 2nd account now.
4) Level 9 and 10 materials, thus allowing people to craft for lvl 40+
5) Frontiers - just because it fundamentally changes the game philosophy.

Originally there wasn't any battlegrounds and RVR for under level 20s didnt exist (dont think you could get RPs). I can't really remember since it was such a long time ago and I was playing on the US servers.

BG added a lot to the game, no doubt about it.

Nah, could get rps iunder 20, I first went out to RvR when I hit lvl 15 and there were still people blue to me in emain ;)

Afternoon

In my opinion Darkness Falls was the single greatest thing to ever happen to Camelot. Other than that the milestones seem to be fairly similar accross the board.

The Mad MAA was hilarious the mad rush as everyone trampled each other to get back to the AMG the death spam it caused, made RvR more fun imho.

Wasn't there a guild that used to beg in Mid and if they would go up to the APK campers and if they didn't give them any money, would go and pull the MaA? Children of Beggars I think it was or something like that.

1) RA's creating huge imbalance amongst character, especially with regard to determination nerfing non tanks and certain i win abilities.
2) PL - people don't work for their characters. Any one can create a 50 in under 2 days played. Helped in creating the whole RvR 1337 attitude as a guild could create a fotm group from scratch in less than a week if really wanted.
3) SC and alch - leveled the playing field but also nerfed casters
4) Gank Group RvR - essentially players playing the game in the same spirit as FPS. Takes a lot fo the joy our of the game. Also these people becoming increasingly vocal and people assuming FoTM is the only way to play when in fact the majority of people don't play in gank groups.
5) Adding immunity timers - it's bad enough that i get mezzed for 40+ seconds a battle, but before it was rediculous with stun/nuke being the I win in every battle (even if it did make thanes FoTM for a very brief time)

How i miss the times you were just able to run around in albion, checking things out, not worry'ing about items, kill some stuff, check out emain, join the ARMY (notice we had an army back then.... no really.... more than 8 people... im not joking...really.... :( ) And yes, everyone shouting "Don't go to close to the keep!!!!" and then enjoying yourself looking everybody run for the CC if someone was "brave" enough to taunt the CC :touch: ,shitting your pants if you saw him coming for you, if you had time to shit your pants... Armsmen standing in front keeping the enemy at bay with their crossbows ... *sniff*

Im sorry, the milestones in DAoC

1. Realm abilities
2. Spellcrafting and alchemy
3. Darkness Falls
4. Battlegrounds
5. Shrouded Isles

These are the milestones that had most influence on my own DAoC experience.

I was laughing at some of these, and feeling old at the same time. Hell, I remember when there was no Dartmoor, and when only the elite few managed to get into a 40+ group at the trees in Lyonesse. How we envied those fast levellers as we clocked up our 20th day /played. And when 94% swords were the uber thing because they glowed :eek6: ! Don't get me started.

The milestones have contributed to each other, in my opinion :

1) RAs meant the hardcore could pwn the less hardcore players
2) Spellcrafted armour meant most drops were pointless
3) DF made spellcrafted armour cheap
4) SI made levelling so much easier than when I first did it I could cry at the wasted effort
5) The previous four points : easily levelled characters, plus cheap SC armour, plus RAs, gave rise to the dreaded fotm mentality which threatens to kill RvR for the majority of the playerbase.
6) ToA. I can see it having an impact, I just don't know what impact that will end up being.

I started playing just 2 weeks before they added dartmoor and the dragons on euro, i played beta ofc before but thought it was shit waited a few months then came back and started cuz i was bored - found out only reason i thought it was shit was cuz i made a gimp char and specced 'for the new spells' so like if a new spell came at level 6 in one line i spec to that then id spec to 4 in another line to get its new spell etc :p

made a minstrel, never looked back (not strictly true... :p)

1. first major thing i remember was the adding of dartmoor etc + dragons
2. then DF + epics came in 1 go i think and df is still the best dungeon in the game
3. the realisation of albion that pbae = good, instead of never ever seeing any pbaers, you now saw more pbaers than fire - this came about the same time as SI
4. the nerf of gobbos that meant there was no big place to xp from 30->40 in alb, which fucked us up royal and still aint been fixed well enough.
5. toa - > im loving it , pve thats actually fun ie: encounters with differing tactics rather than sit at 1 camp of mobs for 5 hrs at at time pulling the same shit and killing in the same way for xp.

would be great if you could xp like that to 50....

GIVE BACK TESTING ON GORRE FOR EVERYONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
