I'm freezing about 20 bottles of water a day in the ice cream freezer at work, then handing them out to staff to cool themselves with. I've alked around helping customers all day while holding a frozen bottle of vittle on various parts of my body :)

I use New Street station in Birmingham on a pretty much daily basis and it's been an absolute nightmare since Tuesday. About 90% of services were cancelled or delayed by more than an hour on Tuesday - there were plenty of pissed off people around.

Read somewhere today that it looks as if temperature bands have shifted 200miles north across the northern hemisphere....

And we've been having hot summers for a couple years now, methinks personally IMO that the climate is definitly starting to change. Its not just Europe having a heat wave at the moment, its also America and across Asia they've been having dramatic weather with huge tropical storms etc.

Wonder if in 10 years the yanks will still be saying "no such thing as climate change" or "god did it"

No offence but thats utter rubbish. You can't look at short term weather cycles and suddenly decide that the climate is changing because of the actions of humanity.

Nobody is saying there is no such thing as climate change. The climate is changing constantly, the only argument is whether or not this is being exagurated by the actions of man. Personally, I say the actions of man are pifflingly small compared to the natural cycles of the planet, and that the whole global warming theory is nothing more than the mantra of outdated organisations like CND and Greenpeace, who can no longer cling to the coat-tails of socialism (because socialism has been proven not to work full stop).

You lot can all sit in your houses with energy saving lightbulbs and the heating off - I'll be blatting around the roads in my de-catted TVR, scooping up squirrels with my specially made airdam, laughing at the vanity of tree hugging yoghurt knitting sandal wearing socialists.

Oh, and remember - its never about saving the planet. Thats never the point. Its about saving humanity. They waffle about the Winged Artichoke Piglet of Dean Forest losing its habitat, but really they're more concerned with how much The Guardian is going to cost them.

I'm not for Chelsea Chariots, I see no reason for them at all and they are bought by those only to display status. That said, the advert is using them for the wrong reasons, indicating people don't like them because they're harming the environment; I just see them as unnecessary.

Agreed though I find myself forced to agree with Tom on the global warming front. Its interesting to note that the warmest July day previously was in 1911 - what did they blame that on I wonder?

Its true we have had some warm years but as Tom said the climate is not a fixed thing - there were once warm seas near the poles - perhaps there will be again?

Eventually we will get another Ice Age - if humanity is to survive long term we will have to learn to adapt to climate change or devise ways to change it as we see fit.

I still think energy effeciency is important at the moment though as we are extremely dependant on very limited stocks of Oil - once we have replaced these with Nuclear or better yet fusion reactors we wont have the same worries.

Wheeeeeeeeeee, nice knee-jerk reaction there Tom.

If you actually read what you replied to it did not in any way actually mention anysuch climate change being a result of human actions. It came very close to it, but didn't actually say it.

With respect this is the hottest summer since 1920-something. So the met office say.
They didnt think it was global warming then, they just thought it was a hot summer :) The fact that its the hottest summer since 1925 means that its been like this before, lots of times.
If it was the hottest summer since 2005, and before that 2004, it would be more relevant!

What was your reason for buying an M-powered sports car then G?

Not having a go mate, but you can see their reasoning. People buy 4x4s for all kinds of reasons, but mainly because they want one. They shouldn't have to justify their choice, just as you or I didn't buy having fast sports cars.

It'll be 2 seaters next, mark my words.

Correct you look at long term, medium term and short term trends and information. From this research and information people who study this can then try and predict possible outcomes of current scientifically recorded data. And see whether the rise in CO2, Ozone, Particulates will have an effect on the climate models and what effect. Its will never be perfect since the science is still quite young comparativly say to Physics and there is room for interpretation but as with all sciences obsevation when combined with scientifcally proven rules can generally indictate an accurate direction for the attained outcomes. With the majority of credited scientists agreeing that humans are affecting the climate causing it to heat up its more prudent to acutally pay attention to what they are saying.

Do you have a degree or doctarate in the required readings of sciences connected to the studying of earths climate or the connected sciences? no? well don't take it personally but then i don't give a shit about your personal view

And don't insult me by implying that I'm a sociliaist, your may think your capitalist or conservative, but like many so called "conservatives" your probably one of the majority that acutally calls himself one based on the more far right wing policies such as nationalism, populism and Xenophobia, Eveyone is a Socialist when they are poor and eveyone is a Conservative when they are rich. Why? because they have something to conserve. A basic allegiance to an alignment of thinking from usually basic people, why else would you have all those former "Tories" and Labour voting BNP. oh noes the foreign people are here! even though they are largely responsible for our increased economic growth, But then thats because the vast majority of people are stupid, anyway you can't have perfect demorcracy without perfect information which is currently impossible. You make do with what you can.

Good for you, if you have the money hell go for it. But then you think "if the majority of scientists are right" then what is the effect this going to have on me and my children, my way of life and how will it affect my social and economic wellbeing. And sorry I had to smirk ironically when you said you laugh at the vanity of "tree hugging yoghurt knitting sandal wearing socialists" while plugging on about "your" de-catted TVR. Nice one *thumbs up* by the way im well endowed, went to public school, have a brand new car, get decent money, have loads of pretty girl friends and enjoy having one night stands with their friends and am only 22, oh wait! am i being vain and showing off? nahhhhhh
