find a 24hr tesco, empty one of the tall freezers and lock yourself inside it for a while, just claim you are re-enacting moments from the simpsons.

pshh. at least u men folks can go topless outside on a hot day without causing a traffic accident/get arrested.:p
all u can do is wear as little as u can get away with an invest in as many fans/air con units as u can get.
also cold bath/shower/swim feels great but makes ya nipples stand out:D

As Will said, very hot up here too.

Wij, simulate your own sweat - take your top off and spray/wipe cold water on your body. You'll feel cool pretty quickly.

I do this on very warm sticky summer nights when I can't sleep due to the heat, cools me down in the quickest fashion.

We fitted a ceiling fan, only cost £30 to buy (the less we mention of the electricians fees after installing it when terribly wrong, the better). None of this namby piffling breeze thing, it makes the whole room feel much cooler. We also have an air conditioner we bought last year, which is the dog's when it comes to cooling a room down. Haven't needed to use it this year since we fitted the fan though.

I get terribly hot feet at night though. I hate having hot feet. I do like Big G suggests, except I buy foot cooling gel (I'm too yuppy for water), and then sleep with a fan blasting them. Maybe you can douse your whole body in foot cooling gel?

Yeah, its mental. I'm sweating like a bastard over here, and I've not worn a tshirt for 2 weeks. I'm having 3 cold baths a day at the moment, which I'm quite sure isn't healthy but thats my prerogative. Fans are fucking shite. They just blow hair air over you! Can't open my window because theres a pond outside and all sorts of weird insects fly through.

it's not that hot here in fairness, was much worse a few weeks ago when the humidity was absolutely evil.

Easy. Keep downstairs windows closed and all curtains/blinds closed during the day, upstairs windows open though.

Then at night, open all downstairs windows and upstairs windows too. Open the curtains and the loft door as well. House will cool down within a couple of hours.

Think yourself lucky you've not had my day:

0330 alarm
0345 leave home (Manchester)
0730 arrive in Scotland, Knockhill - 250 miles
0730 - 1830 working outside
1830 - 2215 drive home
2215 - post on FH when really should be in bed.

Did that last time, when I get up i just leave all the downstairs curtains/blinds closed. When you get home downstairs is nice and cool then.

I do that at work.

I find an excuse to go out the back, then I go and stand in the freezers for a bit, nice and refreshing.

Catsby likes these devices, as they compound the problem of global warming by consuming tons of electricity.

Catsby should perhaps reconsider his views on the 'problem' of global warming, and whether or not humanity has had any effect on it whatsoever.

did see one suggestion a few years ago on Euro trash tv program, Brass butt plugs where you put them in the fridge overnight and wear them when you are hot.

feh. you're all wimps :p 30 deg C is just perfect, and I'm about to go mountainbiking :)

also, as said, -drink hot beverages (though this may sound strange, it really works), -spray room temperature water on yourself (as in mist, not soaking wet. it evaporates, and you cool down via latent heat transfer or some other sciency magic), -try to keep heat out of your house through methods like what Tom described.

heh, I'm just off out on the bike as well. Gonna do my now-regular route up the Bridgewater canal, around 25 miles or so.

Think I might have to invest in a second bottle though :(
