Anyone else feel quite moved by the last piece on the Vantage?

I know it wasn't a car review and showed fuck all of the car, but as far as moving TV goes, what did you think?

Interestingly, I knew I knew the song from somewhere. Lo and behold, I think it's at the end of the first episode of Chris Morris' (a.k.a.Brass Eye) Jam.

Top gear has always been awesome for music; very strange if it is the same piece of music (if it's not a famous piece of types...) considering the nature of the two shows, heh :)

I've been really disappointed by this season, that was the last episode in the current run and they didn't really go out on a bang.

The track was probably chosen to match what Clarkson was talking about. It's called an ending (ascent) by Brian Eno, I first heard it on 28 days later.

the ending was poinyant (sp) too late to work out how to spell it ... but i can see how the worlds focus and environmental stuff is forcing us all down a more conservative route.

i guess if you cant see that from the mood nationally right now .. i am not as autistic as i thought :p

Let's be honest.
Top gear has had its day.
If this season had been run 2 season ago you'd have loved it.

They only have so much material to give and it's pretty much done at this point.
The last two seasons have been recycled stuff and I dont see it changing.
It's still the only thing I actually watch on TV but I hope they stop soon :( Or take a 5 year break.

Actually liked the last 3 min of the episode, good piece of film. They'll do a review/speed test in November probably.

I agree though, this series has been a bit short compared to the last 6-7 series I've seen. But, none the less.. Only thing I watch on TV apart from science docs.

I dunno, I think what's getting tired is the antics. If they pulled back a bit on them and focused a bit more on reviews it might be a bit of a breather it needs.

This season was bad, the first episode was good then it went downhill, its getting worse with each episode and the whole Vantage thing to finish the season was a terrible thing, I would have switched over but I thought they were going out with a bang, so I stayed on BBC 2.

to be fair i think 6 or so episodes a series is all the beeb can probably afford, must cost so much to make.

Nonsense, do know you much money they make from exporting top gear?

If it's a positive ROI then there must be some other factor causing them to not make more. Perhaps they cant make them fast enough?

I'd rather they made less at higher quality than just pump them out for the sake of it.

Yeah I'm happy with the frequency they make them, but I do think they could make their little outings a little less glossy. The music and fancy effects get a bit sickly after a while and I think it'd be better if it was a bit more rough around the edges.

Are you sure it's not from the new Jonsi and Alex album? Pretty sure it is as it's just out and I got it recently. (If you don't know it's an album by the Sigur Ros frontman and his boyfriend - it's very ambient and minimal, but very atmospheric and good.)

FFS do you only ever read my posts when you disagree with me, I just told you it's called 'an ending' and it's most definately not new, I have it on my 28 days later soundtrack from about 2002.

I think Top Gear have used that music before tbfh. Definately something that's been used many a time.

Either way - was a good ending showing us what (IMHO) we've already lost in old Blighty to the do-gooders and mentally mediocre.

Well I enjoyed it. I do tend to watch it from a technical standing though.
