I completely agree... but generally only games with 2D backgrounds have such qualities.
Would make coding the surrounding 20 times more difficult.
Unfortunately...
I mean it would be fantastic if the game had a grim look to it.

They do, it is called Midgard. Bout as grim and depressing as you can get, full of stinking trolls too :p

But hey, it's not like we can get the game to look like some Marvel comic. As in detail, since we do have caped freaks running around already.

i like the reflexive water change, now you see the bridges and stuff on it, and much more detailed :)

first thing me gonna do when toa on us, i download it thru update.dat :) and launch on my own server to check the engine :)

We're many many years away from 'true' environments. But we'll get there, eventually.. It remains to be seen if it ever gets that far with DAoC.

But I'm certainly looking forwards to walking through a VR forest that looks as real as the RL thing. Just hope I live long enough to see it. =)

Have to agree on the Midgard trees thing. The new ones look nice, but it kinda looks a bit too much like they've taken Albion trees and put snow on them. They don't look enough like pine trees.

And yeah, the edges on stuff are a bit too clean. Especially when it comes to the water edges on the banks.
