So you ask to join an alliance raid (but from an alliance other then yours), get credit from the encounters... And you also want to lotto in that alliance raid...

Who was greedy again ?

if he helped kill why the hell shouldnt he get to lotto...he did the same as everyone else..tbh its bullshit like this that really pisses me off, if it had been made clear from the start it was alliance only lotto then fine, but ive seen some wait till the end and then boot people, very wrong!! plus share and share alike he helpd you, let him lotto you greedy bastards!!

1) it was outlined from the start
2) a 2h pally doesnt make much diffrence..a ml5 cleric wuld.

Thats a good one, lets say uber mob needs 24 people to bash, less it fails, more it succeeds almost always except when someone fucksup... Alliance has... 30 people... Now that 1 person suddenly joins the alliance raid, does not wonder what the drop rules are, and just joins in on the fun...

Uber mob dead... And then you say its 'fair' to lotto that uberdrop also with the person that wasnt planned on comming, didnt really contribute other then that it went a little faster... And if he didnt pay 100% attention could easely have fucked up the entire raid...

Sure...

Now its clear from previous replies that bometal didnt imply the LoD alliance raids... But they are alliance only, you cant expect that alliance to share drops with someone that wasnt announced on comming, didnt really contribute that much and could easely have fucked up the raid (without suffering any consequences)...

I'm pretty sure Kirennia doesnt mind someone joining her raids for any reason (be it MLXP, encounters, just sheere fun), but drop rules are alliance only... Dont like it, dont join... Dont know what the rules are when you do join a raid, ask the raid leader...

Its not hard to understand... Wanting that uber-drop for yourself when you 'just joined' isnt greedy ?

Anyways, I'll shut up... If I ever lead a raid, I'll just make sure no non-as join, solves the greed problem right away...

Personally, I don't agree with "only alliance members may lotto" raids, BUT if it was stated upfront that this was the way it was going to work, I think it's fair enough. I wouldn't run a raid like that, but it's their right to do so if they wanted. Hell, if they wanted to say "only minstrels may lotto" it would be fine, as long as everyone knows about it.

And I'd definitely be going to any raid with that rule :)

the greed thing has always existed
from the early days in barrows, df, si and now toa

it'll never go away :D

Yep remember Gunner claiming the Worn Asterite Cross-bow !!!!!!!! Every armsman and infiltrator wanted it but Gunnerr claimed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

On a serious note: Gunnerr is right; had peeps 'claim' the most ridicilious drops just because their char could 'use' it.

So far I didnt have any big issues with it. One minor confusion on a ML2-raid where 2 BG's crashed into eachother; joined BG's and at the end of the raid some had give all their scrolls to me and others didnt (and logged off). Gave all scrolls back to peeps who gave em to me and the fuss was over then ;)

Had a guy camping an Artifact encounter because he needed credit while we wanted a certain drop from the mob. We teamed up without a fuss; he got credit we got the drop. No problems at all if you keep it civilized. Some peeps however loose the ability to communicate as soon as the wanted drop drops.

Ah well; its only a game; drops come more often ;)

It was outlined at the start.

For the entire ML we need about 3fg and we had 50+ people there, 1 extra person would add to frustration but not make a difference of success but could cause failure. It was an alliance only raid...we decided to help a few people out by giving them credit. We therefore boosted them even though it made the raid longer and tougher.

For those who don't beleive that...the night in question we spent about 6 hours to just get 5 parts done because of a LOT of big holdups. The night after, we got 9 of the 10 parts done in an hour less because we were only 3fg. If you think numbers make an easier raid, you're sadly mistaken.

I am just talking about the change of attitude generally, ppl are really getting verry touchy/bitching/whining these days (about artifacts/drops/what so ever)

There is simple explanaition for this I think:

You take

*PVE Grinding
*Lack Of Sleep
*No variation (10 hours in the same enviromnent)
*Bugs

and mix em all together to a deadly combination called "TOA".

Think you hit the bullseye there. Add to that melting pot you described, loads of big egos with very tender skin roaming the realms. I suspect we got more nice situations developing before the MUST crowd is done with ToA. Big egos and cool head dont seem to match well.

As a matter of fact the first 3 bullets describes the situation when you leveled between 40 and 50 in mid down in malmo, killing draculvs hour after hour after hour....zzzz

There is a thread on the VN Gaheris server (co-op) boards about people being more 'fickle' / short tempered etc. since ToA was released. Not just on Gaheris - even on Gaheris which has its own brand of cameraderie being PvE.
Concensus was that the bugs, lag, general ToA time sinks, and constant nerfs were getting people down. Here ToA was launched with patch 1.67 but still there does seem to growing evidence that this is happening in Europe.

There are 2 issues imo which have contributed to the attitudes seen.

The biggest problem to me is the repop timers on encounters. Everyone gets frustrated when they manage to get some mates together to help them, head out to the encounter and find it isn't up. Worse still is knowing that it is a 14 hour repop and you don't know when the mob was last killed. I have visited 1 particular encounter everyday since ToA launch and have still to see it spawned. It is asking too much to expect people to stay with you for what could be 14 hours, so you camp the spot, the mob pops, you call on /gu for help...and while the cavalry are inc another group comes past, says tough..and kills the mob.

Second issue I have is with the ML steps. Miss 1 of the big ones and you can be left struggling as the majority press on with higher MLs, leaving you frustrated all because you happened to miss 1 trial for whatever reason. People are more than willing to repeat the easy steps for ML exp, but go very silent when someone needs to do a harder one.

As for drops. Don't really understand alot of the bitching. The vast majority of drops are absolute rubbish with pve only stats. People aiming to get kitted out through these drops will find their gear very substandard. Yes, there are occasionall a few nice pieces but they are few and far between. Having run some Guild hunts over the last few weeks I am left at the end of the raid with stuff I can't even giveaway, yet on some raids you see players whining and bitching about low qual rogs.

My hope is that as more people get what they want and return to RvR the easier it will be to do the encounters. Here's hoping.

it appears as some people in DAoC thinks of everyday as christmas when everyone should help and share. peace, whatever. everyone have real lives and as an example, i'd be damned to help some afk turd to complete a trial instead of cuddling with my gf.
egoistic? yes, but who cares.

about the lotto thing, try to relate to a irl situation. you work a good 7 hours, then some person you've never met before comes by and asks if he can help you to work the last hour because he needs the hours or whatever. Then when he's worked that hour he says that he wants an equal share of the 8 hour pay. does that in any way sound reasonable to anyone else except santa claus or jesus? no i didn't think so.

and about the closed raid policy. lets say you're going with your friends to dig for gold, you can do it alone and don't need anyone else. but out of the kindness in your heart you let the local turd along so he can tell stories about how he's been digging gold. but he didn't actually contribute with anything. this goes without saying, he's not entitled to anything, but to say thanks for letting me come along and dig gold, later people.
