PvE against RvR grind

As my main RvR toon is a reaver wud just like to say thanks for the fact that the ONLY flex arti theat drops - Snakecharmer - required me to kill about 3000 snakes in the Styg Delta to lvl. These snakes did nto drop anything salvagable nor did they drop scrolls and unlike many other mobs the snakes in dungeons did not give arti xp - that's when i decided Mythic are just taking the piss by trying too hard to get subs out of ppl for a return of 0% fun content.

ToA isnt killing DAOC it's Mythic's greed blinding them to the fact that the good product they had would have made them more money as it was than as it has become. People enjoyed and still enjoy more than anything else the sense of community by playing in groups, greed led to the implementing of solo toons such as necro's so the 1-fingered brain dead could join , the introduction of bb- friendly tasks - palas soloing epic monsters ffs!
I only have 1 a/c and cant even use a fookin boat without some1 else - and no I wont buy another account why shud I have to pay twice to play 1 game ?

I used to reccommend to people that they join DAOC , long time since I stopped doing that if I didnt have 5 lvl 50 toons and 5LGM crafters I would have quit.

Having finished my little rant i do think NF has some redeeming features so I'll give it a go but that will no doubt be a subject for future threads :)

Interesting thread. I have played on the US servers for the past year or so (mainly Mid/Merlin and Hib/Palo) and so saw the time sink of TOA before you chaps did. Yes it is a time sink and it mostly appeals to people who have lots of time to play a game, and don't mind doing the same repetitive stuff over and over again.

I got bored taking two toons to ML5, so I take my hat off to Yussef getting two to ML10.

It made myself and a lot of guildmates examine our priorities and what we wanted in game. We didn't want a grind, because there is very little fun to be had just to keep up with the opposition.

Despite Mythic nerfing a lot of the artifacts and ML abilities in RvR they still play a big part in the game. My ML0 no artifact RR7 shade had difficulty competing with RR2 minstrels TOA'd to the max, let alone with similar RR infils or blades who had the time to farm.

If you can't compete in RvR and don't enjoy the mindless repetition of doing ML's then DAOC is no longer a game you can enjoy, so time to find another game. A number of my guildees, including myself, went to CoH which has no ingame economy and no items ... others are 'on hold' waiting for WoW.

Part of me is thinking that maybe, just maybe, that MMOG's are not aimed at middle aged players like myself ... but at much younger people with more time on their hands. If that is the case then it's a bad business model to follow because, eventually, everyone grows up and finds that real life loot is much better than a few pixels on a screen which took hours upon hours to 'get'.
