CS class of 2001: wear body armour. If I could offer you only one tip for the future, body armour would be it. The long term benefits of body armour has been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own, meandering experience. I will dispense this advice now.
Enjoy the power and beauty of your colt. But never mind, you will never understand the power and the beauty of your colt until its been taken from your dead body. But trust me, in twenty years, you will look back at photos of your wins and recall in a way you can't grasp now, how many bodies lay before you and how fabulous you really were. You are not as LEET as you imagine.
Don't worry about your frags or worry knowing that knowing that worry is just as affective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. The real cool kills are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind. The kind that blindsides you at 4 PM on some idle Tuesday. Do one thing every day that scares you.

Don't be reckless with team-mates health, don't put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Don't waste your time on campers. Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. The race is long and in the end, it's only with yourself.
Remember compliments you receive, forget the insults. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how. Keep your old config files, throw away your old screen shots.
BOMB HAS BEEN PLANTED ~
Don't feel guilty if you don't know what to do with the bomb. The most interesting people I know didn't know in beta 5 what they wanted to do with the bomb; some of the most interesting people from version 1.1 still don't. Get plenty of practice. Be kind to your spray, you'll miss it when its gone.
Maybe you'll Win, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll Plant the bomb, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll be shot by an AWP, Maybe you'll go 35-0 on de_dust. Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either. Your choices are half chance. So are everybody else's.
Enjoy your TMP. Use it everywhere you can. Don't be afraid of it or what other people think of it. It my be the greatest weapon you'll ever own.
Play. Even if you have nothing else but a 56k modem.
Listen to your leader even if you don't follow them.
Do not read CS FORUMS, they will only make you feel stupid.
Get to know your team-mates. You never know when they'll be changing clans.
Be nice to your girlfriends. They are your best link to the real world and the most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that games come and go. But for a precious few, you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in HPW's and LPB's, for the better you get, the more you need the people you knew when you sucked.
Play on the KFA SERVER once, but leave before it makes you hard. Play on THE BUNKER server, but leave before it makes you soft. FRAG.
Accept certain inalienable truths: pings will rise, players will cheat, you too will get bad ping and when you do, you’ll fanaticise that when you were young, pings were reasonable, players were noble and newbies respected their elders. Respect your elders.
Don't expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust friend, maybe you'll have a lots of backup but you'll never know when either one might run out.
Don't mess too much with your config or by the time version 2.0 comes out, your screen will look like beta 2.
Be careful whose posts you reply to, but be patient with those who started the thread. Posting is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of wishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth. But trust me on the body armour.
