For those who didn't know, in a fit of insanity I offered to help out coordinating the crafters for the Bazaar. After talking a few ideas over, mostly with Hendrick (who gets my thanks for helping clarify some of my more obscure rambling ) the suggested way we handle things is :
1. Crafters sell at regular markups.
2. Crafters making lower level stuff for customers that may not be that rich either may or may not sell their stuff at cost-price, and receive extra coin to make up for this from Aurelius.
(I'm aiming to help out those who are in the level range 1-10, so for the weapon crafters things of bronze, iron and steel, and the equivalent materials for fletchers/armourers et.al. Anything you make from those materials, if you sell at cost to the 'young' folks I'll make up the difference compared to your normal charges at the end of the event)
3. Crafters pay a certain "tax" to attend this bazaar, which then hopefully is used in some reasonable way. 10% tax of what they sell over the course of the evening sounds fair to me, given the fact that there should hopefully be quite a few customers this evening and all facilities and merchants are easily accessible.
Tax collection will be based on honesty, we'll not be checking how much you sell (VAT collector and auditor classes may appear in the next major patch from Mythic, but for now we'll rely on trust )
4. Any money gained from 'taxes' is to be collected by Aurelius and then spent in some kind of reasonable way.
Ideally it will help fund future events, but we'll have to see how much (if anything!) we end up with - I'll make sure the profit totals are suitably publicised!
5. Hints from the Gods suggest we may have a few extra things appear in Ludlow to help the Bazaar on it's way, but as ever they keep their followers guessing.... what we are hoping for is a lathe, a forge and merchants selling all materials from bronze to arcanium levels in Ludlow, so you don't have to carry around large amounts of material and/or prepare items for the event.
Can't promise, as usual the hints from on high are hopeful but imprecise....
Feedback, suggestions, comments etc appreciated, ideally on the PARP or BarrysWorld boards so I can read them
without chasing too far across the Internet!
Hope to see many of you in Ludlow, 20:00 CET (19:00 GMT) on the 31st!
