From: ASUS ENGTX560 Ti DCII TOP/2DI/1GD5

And

To: Corsair Dominator Platinum - 2x8GB DDR3 2400MHz PC3-19200 CL10
From: Kingston HyperX - 4x4GB DDR3 1600MHz PC3-12800 CL9

Total cost to me about £450
enough of an improvement to warrent the cost? would I even notice?

You might as well put in a few more quid and buy a new laptop. Lot of money for what seems to me to be very close to what you got already

You can upgrade your RAM pretty cheaply and should see a future benefit. I wouldn't bother upgrading the GPU for another year...consoles are still holding back graphical need, wait for devs to get their heads around them.
