Exploit clarification.

We have had several reports about the newly introduced Necromancer class and here is a little clarification on what is considered an exploit.

Hiding your pet in a tree, where it cannot be seen, but can be targetted with F8, clicked on with the mouse and where the line of sight isn't obscured, is not considered an exploit.

Hiding your pet inside a bridge pillar, wall or similar solid object that will block line of sight and make you almost unkillable, is considered an exploit. In general your pet is allowed to go the same places as the players are allowed to go. We had issues with people hiding in walls or bridges and killing without chance of retaliation in the past and this exploit is similar. If you notice players using this kind of exploits, take a couple seconds to write down the names, date and place and, once you are done playing, report it via RightNow, our customer support tool.

Dont know if they said the same thing about the enchanters, but i think they take this more serious than the abuse of los with pets. I dont know for sure, but i wouldnt wanna run the risk of getting banned.

Just thougt I would mark this up, seeing as people don't seem to think it is an exloipt.

And to justify one exploit with peopel using another one, is well .... retarded. That is like saying it is okay to steal cars because other people steal TVs

If they ban a necro for putting a pet on stay+passive behind a wall or some such, they better continue to banning every chanter in the game and remove all their RP (gained thru exploiting a bug).

Necro pet LoS is working as intended, as is chanter pet LoS, in this patch. In future patches the current implementation isn't working as intended though, but that's future patch, not this. Same thing as with Ogre's Might quest...

All i was trying to say that the pet exploit is small and still wrong, but normally u wouldnt actually die because of it, it would just be the extra bit that did it. With this necro bug you could die, because of it.
So im saying that stealing anything is wrong just that stealing cars is to big of a crim, so you will get arrested for it and for stealing tvs not. As to many do it and the problems caused by it is to small.

and belth the problem isnt that the pet got los problems. Necromancer can cast himself, but cant die as long as his pet doesnt die. So necromancers will try to hide his pet from the enemy. Putting it into a wall makes him almost invunerable. 1 fg of strong casters that hide their pets in the wall of mg can do ALOT more damage than 2 fg enchanters can with their pets LOS bugs. So thats why goa is trying to catch these bug abusers more thoroughly.

Get crit shot set up, spam bow, when "insert target here" gets in target (from jumping), shot fires, hits "insert target here". It will go through walls as long as when you release bow he's in site. Bit harder with caster as you have to land it (after casting) with them in view.

It is not LOS they are complaining about. (this time, still can't wait for that fix though)
It is, as Driwen states, putting your pet in a solid object where it can't be targetted, and all but make it invulnerable, that is the problem.

If the pet was really in the wall then just report him. If it was well positioned behind the wall and making use of the crappy LOS situation then tough, nothing will be done about it.

Are u accusing me for LOS abuse? I can tell you that I don't jump more or less then any other archer I know. But I guess you don't encounter any archer because the all quit due to mage-whine-nerfs.

No m8, other archers are wrong there too, and it shouldnt be allowed... Your in a spot where you can shoot a caster, but that caster cant do ANYTHING back... Trust me I've tried, you've shot me and my group members countless times...

Its abuse of LOS anyway you put it... A caster could, in theory, pull off the same stunt, but it is virtually impossible due to spell-timing...

Just because others do it, dont make it right... I'm not saying what the necro did was right, but comming from someone that does almost a similar thing on almost a daily basis makes me laugh....

Well, I might have to agree with you to some extent. But instead of "fix" that they gave mage classes bt, pbt and the allmighty stacking pbt. I can pump a whole bar of end without hitting anything. And I'm not really complaining about the LOS problem. I'm quite used to chanter pets and so on.

It problem in this case is that a class used a bug to make it impossible for me and my group to taget, damage or in anyway kill him, since we didn't have any pbaoe in our group.

And don't say that archers are impossible to kill. I've a shit load of screenshots at me dead at the mgs.

well anyway i was there and killed by the necro or by the hibs not sure which and the hibs found him as one of the hib pet things could hit the necro pet which was hidden inside the wall then the hibs came along and aoe spammed the wall and pet died so did necro.

solution to this is he was hiding in wall on ur right fellow mids as you come out of the gate going to enemy tk just in the corner so next time we know and he will be easy to kill

Is it not conceivable for someone to look where a target is, jump up from behind a wall and fire a bow and then land?
Sure the aiming might be off, but it is at least possible.

u can jump up get an id where the target should be and then shoot or during jump shoot, and imo volley shouldnt have los as you shoot in a location anyway and prolly in an arche, but thats about something else.
I actually dont use jump thing much in rvr in pve sometimes as i want max range and sometimes just cant be bothered to move. But it looks really irritating and it isnt really logical so i tend to not use it and just jump on stuff so i can look above it instead of constant jumping

Go bitch about Enchanters before you start about Necro's...
About archers having to jump... Well, unless you stand on the top of the rail on the milegates, you cannot hit anything, not even as caster. I have to jump with my sorc, but also with my scout. Just Mythic being complete and utter asses. Makes keep defense very hard, as LoS seems to be calculated from the feet, instead of the head...
But let the Hibbie love continue, and anything coming close for Albs, lets nerf that...
