The fact there was a hibbie in the middie frontier wasnt the point, the point was that the information was passed on to the middies. Im pretty sure the developers didnt disable send /s or /em with other realms with the intent that you should use irc.

matter of fact:

the attempted suppression of 3rd aprty programs running in background is pretty useless as very many ppl are using 2nd PC to run IRC. frankly i m pretty annoyed at IRC crossteaming, directed at breaking the communications restrictions built into the game.

i m not thrilled by this and i ll get back to those responsible to ask what exactly they think they re doing.

About 5mins before we leave PK I went to they're relic passed the uber guards and checked everything doors defenders EVERYTHING it was everything as planned u guys just made tunz of mids log in and the words to spread out.


Defenetly a good time down the drain just because some idiots decided to crossteam...

Eblessair, when i do leave this game because of twats like you, plz keep me informed of games, that depend more on reflexes, aim, and general skill to determine the outcome of a fight because i will personaly make sure you will be hitting the spawn button like it was autofire. Then again I even doubt you play ANY game that requires REAL skill unless you have a cheat, hack, or any other form of illegal advantage lined up to use.

I can live with alot of things, sure pulling drakes on us was lame but it was something that came with the box, the drakes are there they can be agrod, you pulled em on us... ok might be lame but still a vallid tactic. XP killing, ok not nice but hey, when you are in a frontier zone it can happen, fair enough. The wall abuse ... ah well you lag, you fall through it, you stay there and you kill people. It really says something about the person doing it if he deliberately goes looking to fall through the wall to gain an advantage. Its a fault of the game, but still its in the game and people caught doing it should get a temporary ban. Same with the cross realm spying by people with accounts on multiple realms on one server, manual says you cant, punishable by account suspension. Sure you do it you know the risks but its still something possible because of the way the game is programmed, they could have easyly built in a routine that prevents you from creating characters on another realm on the same server once you started your first.

But you eblessair, my friend, you decided to top it all don't you. You are using a 3rd party program to indeed, as finster said, work around the communication restrictions in the game. And the way mythic made the game they deliberately tried to protect the honest players from that by making it IMPOSSIBLE to alt-tab to the desktop. 3rd party programs were NEVER intended to being used. I hope EVERYBODY reports this trough right now, because I certainly am. Your account should be permanently suspended without any discussion.

To sum it up:
Using a 3rd party program to warn ANOTHER (not even you own) realm for a raid. Thereby Deliberately bypassing the protection the game offers from practices like this to gain an Illegal advantage over other players. = closest thing to hacking this game you can get without changing the code.

So a Hib tips of the Mids about an Alb raid using IRC on a 2nd computer. wtf can Mythic/GOA do about that. They gonna ban the use of 2nd computers, IRC, phones ? Are we all going to have to play DAOC sealed in hermetically sealed boxes so as there is no absolutely no chance we can communicate with the outside world ?

Get real. There is no way that using IRC on a 2nd computer to communicate with other members of the daoc community has squat to do with Mythic/GOA. The day they start telling us how we can communicate and with whom OUTSIDE of this game is the day it ceases to become a game and turns into something more sinister.

What Eblessair did might not have been 'cricket' (as we toffs in England say), but when put into perspective all he did was tip of his IRL friends about a raid from a shared enemy in a computer game using IRC. Not even cheating imho, just cunning (and maybe slightly low). But definately NOT cheating.

Ban him ? I think not and I hope not.

Chesnor you are right there are NO way to know if this happens, but Eblessair got caught doing it, intencionally breaking the CoC results in an immidiate ban (or should do in this case), this works as many other things in life

and passing on that info was no way agaisnt the CoC, the CoC prohibits you working agaisnt your own realm
how, in any way is Albion, my own realm
ps. the rule you speak of is from the US CoC, i belive goa stated at some point they would modify their CoC to corospond with the US one, but as of yet, there has not been any chances, so atm, even if i DID work agaisnt my own realm(which i didnt), it wouldnt be agaisnt the CoC

Ok I see eble getting much of the flaming here

Firstly I would just like to say sorry to the albs for what part in this I had to play, after playing in alb\exc for a few hours I can see that it isn't so easy all the time as it seems from the other end of the gank.

Secondly we have an overdose of computers in this house, and I think the current count is 2 full computers, and one without monitor, hence eble having to switch the cable to check irc

Aeiedil, it was nice playing with u on alb, i think u're same person duno but what u did was totally and uterly lame....but things happen its in the past no point crying over split milk yes it did ruin our relic chance but afaik this game has no end so we get it back sum time

Ok, first off this only a game people, lighten up.

I don't really have an opinion either way on this one and can see both sides of the argument. But as a lot of flack seems to be going Eble's way and being a person who doesn't like to see anyone being picked on i am going to put forth an argument for his case. U say he shouldn't have informed the mids, that he was sucking up to them so we wouldn't be attacked? But if the albs got the relic they would have had 3 correct? Making them more powerful then the other realms, hence giving them an advantage. Therefore by informing the mids he wasn't sucking up to them, but helping us hibs by stopping the albs becoming stronger.
Ok, so this may have been the wrong way to go about it, perhaps a better plan would have been to organize a group of hibs to go to mid and either try and stop the alb army, or intercept the relic once they had it (if that's even possible?).
But still, i'm going to repeat my initial message incase some people didn't get it....this is only a game folks.
