My PC is a self build, about 4 or 5 years old, but still going strong. It has a ATI Radeon HD 5800 series graphics card that runs a 3 monitor display. Two monitors come from the DVI outputs and one from a DisplayPort through a DVI adapter.

All was good up to last night when I switched off, but this morning, the main monitor didn't come on. It is the displayport one, but having swapped the cables around it is clear that it is simply this output that isn't functioning, and not a monitor problem.

I have tried the obvious, i.e. taken out the card, got the dust off it and reseated it, but to no avail, I have also updated the drivers, but again no cure.

Also when I look at the displays through Catalyst Control Centre it is seeing one as flat panel and the other as VGA even though they are both using DVI out and inputs.

Is there anything else I can try before assuming that the card is a bit borked and getting a new one.

If I do need a new one then what do you suggest. The 5800 is still playing what I want at the settings I need so I don't need to go too much higher, and the rest of the system is a bit long in the tooth anyway, an oldish quad core Intel i5 750, that I won't be upgrading for a while yet.

Thanks

I have a Sapphire HD 5870 2GB sitting in a box gathering dust (not literally, it's all packed up nice in an anti-static bag) if it's of any use to you. If it's similar to what you already have you could conceivably put them in Crossfire and use the outputs on this one to feed the display (I think).

Alternatively, with the launch of the new Rx series, retailers are slashing prices on the the HD 7000 series cards to get them out of the door.
