Anyone else done what the mad badger has done?
I like the odd bit of MTB and would like to get into it more, I know Throddys bike has an engine but anyone else biked and camped like that? Is it pretty simple to do, do you have to book places in advance?

Cool, how you carry your kit? I mean did you car camp and then cycle in the area or just take a large backpack?

Cycled across france and into spain a few years ago with nowt but a couple of small cycle bags. Pretty easy to find a camp site in europe. If you get in really late then the owners are usually in bed and the night watchman will just let you in and tell you to pay in the morning. Most of the time the night watchman doesn't bother to tell the owners who you are so you just pack yer stuff up and leave!! \o/

few years ago some mates and i threw our mountain bikes into the back of a couple of cars and headed off to the forest of dean for a week


found a camp site and set up camp only to spend the nights in king arthurs cave after going on night rides.


if your planning on night rides make sure your lights a very powerfull and you have an ample supply of batteries though

I just spent the whole day biking before coming to work...

I've been tempted recently with bivvying and biking, nice mini lightweight tent. Throw it, a technical sleeping bag, and my usual kit into my rucksac, and head up into the hills.

And my light is scarey powerful.

Heh, I'm a retired nerd. I only have dialup at home.

Usual kit - mini-pump, inner tube, puncture kit, tyre levers, multi allen key, waterproof, and a gillet.
