With the announcement that three are now bundling unlimited internet in their one plan, I'm tempted to switch to them. They also say it's ok to tether, although they may throttle in future.

What is people's opinion of three? I've heard that their customer service is shite, and it used to be that their network was crap, but I'm told that's got a lot better.

It's got to be better than O2 these days, data with them can be so slow and I'm getting coverage issues at home (in the centre of london).

Apart from their customer service, I think they are probably the best network now for data, and their reception is on par with the rest. T-mobile give them a close run now they can use the orange network.

What happened to the days of o2 and voda being the best :(

Voda have gone big time for the corporates, and have crap policies/tariffs for consumers now, and O2 are too busy with iPhone users.

I may give three a go.

If Three are on par with the rest of the other companies in the UK, I don't think I'll bother getting a phone at all when my contract runs out.

Well if you have a captive consumer base of complete retards who will pay hand over fist for substandard equipment and data plans why give a fuck about quality of service?

i have unlimited data on my phone and love it, im not sure if its the standard in Finland but the shop lady seemed pretty confused by the idea of paying for data rather than the data speed (you can choose between 1mb 5mb and 15mb) and its pretty good, i would not have upgraded to a smart phone if i had to pay data charges, and i have to admit i use it quite a lot (though with the wireless connection maybe not as often as i think i do!)

Have a look at giffgaff, I've been on em for the last 4 months and loved it. Goodybags are excellent, no tie-ins and all based on the O2 network. £10 I get unlimited internet, text, 250 mins of calls and free calls to any other giff-gaffer so I can phone my girlfriend and mother for free.

Oh, and if you do, get yer sim this way (so I get monehz!) Milkshake's Giff-Gaff Affiliate Linkz0r

Just an option...

The point being made in this thread is that O2's network is now a bit crap so why would anyone move from O2 to O2 under a different name??

Unless of course you doing it for the money....

Fucksocks, apologies. Didn't read the top post closely enough. Hey, if O2 coverage is no good for you in your area, don't move to giffgaff :)

It's not their coverage, it's their shocking data - they only care about iphone users.

That's because they are the biggest bunch of suckers outside of the red light districts :)

Is that still true? And is there any actual evidence? I believed it for a while after the iPhone first came out but that was getting on for three years ago now.

o2's data is horrific. I'm not basing it on any evidence other than me having used the for the past 6-7 years.

It used to be good (and I've always had top end phones that use a lot of data), the drop off in the last two years has been shocking.

You get data connection, quite often HSPDA, but it's slower than having EDGE at times :(

o2 has been going downhill for years now used to be the best in the business but their tariffs are terrible, their connection round here which used to be good is terrible and they make no effort to match the other competitors out there.

As i said in another thread been with 3 terrible customer service my gf has been with 3 again terrible customer service their phones have all that 3 crap built into them which devalues the phone straight away if you ever want to sell it.

Joined T-mobile in March for my HTC Desire and i haven't looked back i get great customer service they can't do enough for you when you give them a ring, their area coverage now coupled with Orange is unmatched and their HSPDA is awesome.

I won't be leaving T-Mobile anytime soon.

Few points on this; my iphone has no 3 branding at all. Nothing. Some of their phones do, but t-mobile, orange, vodafone and o2 all do this to some extent. Voda are the worse. With most smart phones they don't get to do as much as they'd like, and often do nothing to get the phone on sale faster.

customer service; I can't comment to much as I've been with them for only a week now, but I've had no problems so far. Using my pac code, removing a net restriction and asking for a replacement iphone bumper were all dealt with quickly.

In the other thread you also mentioned the amount of marketing calls 3 make. Well this is an easy one. Log into my3 on their website, go to "my details", then "marketing preferences", check each radio box to opt out of calls, pre-recorded messages, texts, emails and post marketing.

Again, I've not been with them long enough to really form a huge opinion on it. But I've not had a single call, text or email from them in the past week.

If I did, I'd phone them up and ensure they changed the preferences on their end too.

the wording on that t-mobile "support" page is so condescending. Still that doesn't affect their 3 gig android phones allowance or 1 gig allowance for smart phones doe it?

According to Milkshake's link, it's just new contracts and upgrades. Existing customers are unaffected so won't be able to be released early I expect.

Nah, they're pretty shite for those too. Fastest I ever saw in London was 1mb down, and it only just made that. browsing is always noticeably slow even with a full 3g signal. Took a while to download maps on google maps when I was trying to find places too. Really not the performance you'd expect in the capital, you'd expect something that feels more like broadband, rather than more like an old isdn line.

that's because o2 (and mobile 3g coverage in general) is shit around that area, staines, chessington, surbiton, kingston, leatherhead. All shit.
