Actually you'd be better simply reducing the JPEG quality, putting at 50% for a picture will do wonders for the size (bytes) without reducing the size (dimensions), its not like the subject matter demands photographic quality.

I point the honourable member to my reknowned HSBC picture in this thread, a mere 66K for a 600x800 picture

Depends which bit of Christian dogma you're listening to. Lot of the hardcore protestant sects like the Calvinists and Puritans would say it was blasphemous because images of God are seen as blasphemous, and if you're impersonating for the purposes of entertainment, you're creating an image. This is also true if you're a moslem I believe.
