In reality it seems, exactly the opposite has happened. The taurs now camp the bridges and block the paths down to the lava, making it just about impossible to navigate through Volcanus/Typhons without getting difficult to handle agro (unless you are very lucky). There is usually a high level single purp or a group of 3 purps camping each bridge.1.68 patch notes said:- The general taur population has been thinned out a bit throughout Typhon's Reach and Ashen Isles, particularly around bridges and the entrance area to Deep Volcanus. This should allow a single group a fighting chance to make their way into Deep Volcanus.
I found a tactic however for getting past them if your not in a decent sized group. Just sprint through the agro (try to avoid agro as much as possible though) and they will chase you and hit you, but will give up after only a couple of hits, at which point you can heal up ready for the next bridge.
I guess the patch note means a fighting chance for a full group and its not intended to be easy/possble for just 2 or 3 people grouped.
