Moved house last Tuesday, long week. Moved from Dulwich in South East London out to Taplow, a village next to Maidenhead. We now have 3 bedrooms, 2 gardens and a lake, which is some upgrade from a one bedroom flat. The only problem is that we are now about a mile from my in laws, and from my sister in law and her 3 year old son. There hasn't been a day yet where at least 1 of them has turned up unannounced (unannounced to me at least). SiL and Nephew are there now, so I've decamped to my new local, the Oak and Saw where I'm enjoying a nice pint of Rebellion IPA (local brewery, Windsor I think, possibly Marlow), just myself and the dog. Life could be worse I suppose.

Finland is Nordic not part of Scandinavia nor is it considered a Baltic state (after WW2). It is why this region is known as Nordic and Baltics note not Scandinavia and Baltics ……

It is very scary. The traditional thought was always that the comfort zone for human habitation in North America might move up a state, maybe two, but if the whole continent is going to turn into a furnace, then we're in big trouble.
I can't realistically think of a way out, short of Jet stream manipulation (that wont end well), or massive re-greening and turning large parts of the country in wetlands, so that the land can absorb the heat better.
They had some success in China turning desert into greenlands, which lowered the temperate by a significant amount. But as its America, who is going to pay for it? It will probably end up in the courts until it's too late.

Ultimately, it's our consumption that's the issue. And most of what we consume and produce is utter shit that we don't need.

But look at the uproar because some people are trying to stop new roads being built 🤷

Sometimes there are very simple solutions to be had that, even though they won't solve the problem globally, will at least make life a little more comfortable.

Street trees are one such solution. They can reduce temperatures in urban environments by several degrees.

In the short term.

But if we want to survive as a species, and not turn into Venus - which was a planet much like ours in the past - then we need to start drastically changing.

Geoengineering will kill us btw - it's clear we can't manage unknown risk very well. But we've got the tech available today to fix this problem. We had the tech available twenty years ago tbh - but no political or social will.

That's not changed. And we're still pissing about caring about what Russia is doing or somesuch shit.

It's been fucking mental around here.

I was on my 30 min drive home, I left in the rain, 5 mins in hit glorious sunshine, then 20 mins later I got absolutely shat on by all the water gods, got home and it was dry everywhere.

So confused!

It wasn't the cleanest win, but we got a win.
I thought Denmark played very well. Could have so easily been a Danish win.
Sunday is going to be tough. Italy are a class team.
