Go count the number of vehicles outside the school, 20 minutes before chucking out time, with people sat in them on Facebook. At my local primary school it's usually around 10-15 cars, diesel, idling away. That number rises the closer to chucking out time it gets. Come the event, the road is impassible - it is utter chaos.

That simply never happened when I was in primary school. Practically everyone walked home with their friends or alone.
Populations ain't what they used to be, eh?

Guess there are exactly the same number of kids in each school as there were in your day, eh?

If you were trying to be constructive you'd realise that regardless of how many children there are attending school, if around half of them are being driven, that's a serious problem that needs to be resolved. Average journey length for primary school kids is IIRC about 2.5 miles, well within walking and cycling distance - if only councils would build infrastructure that enables more walking and cycling.

What, like pavements? You don't see many of those anymore, eh?

Not everyone's world functions within the constraints you wish to impose Tom.

It's illegal to cycle on pavements. Whilst cyclists do come across as Zealots a lot of the time, having lived in Denmark it's very hard to argue against the logic that if there were better infrastructure for it, more people would cycle. There are barely any cars in Copenhagen and the tax on them is insane. Only time I didn't cycle when I lived there was for trips to IKEA etc when we would use public transport if possible, or hire a van if we needed lots of big things.

It is not on roads though, is it? In before "wah-wah, roads have cars"
Most of which are obstructed by parked cars, bins, electrical boxes, bus stops, a-frames - you name it. And they cede priority at entrances to side roads - where most collisions occur.

You really think this is a good way for society to function?

Ah, so poor street design is the problem... well maybe if streets were designed to accommodate schools and school traffic things would be different as well.

Also I'm not advocating for dickheads parking on pavements @Tom so don't be a dipshit.

Using the fryer for the last few times before throwing it out.

I just had fish fingers and waffles for lunch. Heavenly.

Marmite moment.

Marmite = awesome
Fish finger sandwich with salad cream = awesome.

Anyone who disagrees can fuck right off :p

Not the salad cream. I much prefer a proper tartare sauce.

I know, I know. I can fuck right off. But that's been the situation since the 90's so I've nothing to lose by stating my, clearly superior, preference.

:)

It's a working class thing

That's the bit Raven isn't telling you about; he has to get rid to be considered for a new job.

Do none of you know what shallow-frying or air-frying is?

Also... A working class thing?

(To be fair, I don't know anyone who owns one and I have loads of 'working class friends')

I genuinely don't know what air frying is. I'm assuming shallow-frying is just regular frying pan stuff, but apart from said frying pan (and a wok), I've never owned any kind of frying machine.

I have an Air Fryer. it's basically a small fan oven but cooks things really quickly and crisps them really well. I don't use the oven as much these days as i use the air fryer instead.

I have this one:

It can even dehydrate foods so you can make sun dried tomatoes etc

Air Fryer is on our shopping list, as our oven is crap. Takes 40 minutes to cook a frozen pizza, when instructions say 12-15 mins. I've been watching videos of people making fries, chips and what not, looks really good. How hard is it to clean?

Super Easy. Barely an inconvenience.
Put the stuff in the dishwasher (apart from the actual machine itself obviously)

Why would you not just get one of these?

I did consider getting that but it's massive!
I got the smaller version which suite me better.

If you have enough worktop surface then yes go for it!

Don't be an arse, just cut off the plug and throw it all in the dishwasher :p

We just use the Oven for any chips that are needed.
