As for Sweden I dunno.

It's a bit like domestic violence - there's been a massive campaign for both men and women not to keep quiet about it and as a result cases have shot through the roof, but is it a bad thing? Or are people just reporting it more?

I'm not gonna suggest that the influx of migrants has had an impact but not catastrophicically though.

Asking people is more interesting - do you feel safe? Even then the vast majority of responses will be pre-determined by people's exposure to the media and being told that where you live is no longer safe.

Bluntly, no, I don’t think people have got more “rapey rapey” in the last few years, and yes it mostly is more reporting and a massive widening of the net. A good example would be the whole Julian Assange thing; the idea in Sweden that you can change your mind after the fact (as these women both did) and a Swedish judge will convict, is ludicrous. We’re into “written contracts for hookups” territory here, and even then men are are on shaky ground if a woman decides to get pissy. There was also the prostitution ban which swept up thousands of men and women into the stats, and mainly just moved the “problem” to the Baltics and Russia anyway.

I think you can definitely make the case that sexual assault stats are under-reported globally, but I don’t think the Swedish approach to sexual politics in general is healthy; it looks like institutional misandry to me.

I'd chalk up some to increased population, cultural barriers, and yes, the social media boom which i think gives people incentive to share what has happened. On one side, within Swedish law, you can't accuse and slander people for such a crime that happened so long ago (#MeToo), but on the other side, I'd say it's their right as well (within Swedish law, the limitation-time is 10 or 15 years depending on the severity).
BUT, i do agree wholeheartedly with what you mention in regards to changing your mind, OR, letting the society we live in as such, change it for you, from, "I didn't really want to have sex but he kept nagging" to "Well, i guess it was rape".

And yes, there's a law that's been championed by a group of individuals that says you have to both ask each other clearly and both has to say yes, to be able to initiate sex. So right you are, contracts next, OR, you have to sign in using some kind of mobile phone app ID that you get from your bank. We use those to sign in when we tax. Why not when fucking as well, so they can register our fuck-stats.

I think it's one of the hardest cases to crack open, that is why only like 4% or some such leads to conviction (In Sweden).
