Just read some article claiming a bunch of Irish travelers apparently occupied a large portion of farmland in Sweden with their trailerpark. For three days they partied, threatened people nearby, threw rocks at cars, defecated all over, tried stealing lambs, ride the farms horses etc etc.

Apparently they are really shit carpenters hired by cheapskates here in Sweden.

Yeah "Pikeys" in the UK, and "Knackers" here in Ireland. Same people though (literally, they often move back and forward between both countries). I hadn't heard the term "Pavee" before but it's apparently what travellers call themselves, but I'm told outsiders aren't supposed to use it.

Obviously, it shouldn't be used, but some old peeps still use it, and others do it with spite i guess, just because they don't want things to be taken from them.

Only a real hardcore minority continue to use them and blighty is a lot less overtly racist, and as racism is a learned response, less actually racist as a result.

I'd say your perspective needs adjusting if you feel the need to side with people who use racist terms against people who want that type of language to stop - enough to write an angry post about it.

It's simple not to use those phrases any more. I know you don't really want to stop using them fett, but they're racist and no matter what you think about it their use makes you a little bit racist.
