Someone gave me an old IBM Thinkpad 380XD today. It's built like a tank and has Windows 95 on it. I don't think there's anything really I can do with it. I was thinking of putting Lubuntu on it (or something else very very lightweight) and having it as a download box or something but... is it even worth going to the trouble? It has 48MB of RAM. :\

Ergh nevermind the download box idea, it has no in-built networking ability apart from a 28.8kbps modem. I'd have to buy a PCMCIA network/wireless card to even get it on a network.

At the risk of sounding like an utter racist countries with 1billion+ people need cutting down a bit. As for solar flares and everything else related to space - if it happens it happens, fuck all we can do about it.

There's no evidence in the historical fossil records that such an event has ever had a major impact on life. Sure it'll probably fuck up the power grid and many electrical devices, but hardly "end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it"
