I know i'm miles behind, but I've started watching Game of Thrones. I've finished season 1 and about seven episodes into season 2.

Fuck me it's good.

I'm also miles behind. I'm only just finishing Season 1.
I'm also just finishing off Breaking Bad!

Freddyshouse since it's inception sadly.

Where's Gaff in all this? He must have worn out two keyboards by now replying to people's posts informing them of their gross ignorance and wasted education?
Probably in one of his sheds.

I've just been away for a very nice weekend in Brussels. And leave me out of this; I don't give a fuck about any of them; if the whole of Israel and every occupied territory was washed into the sea tomorrow I wouldn't shed a tear.

Just been watching a TV show (BBC Horizon) about the standard model of cosmology.

Inflation Theory was "invented" because only an inflated universe could produce temperatures that were the same everywhere (this was shown to be the case by the Cosmic Microwave Background). A "normal explosion" would leave massive temperature differences all over the place.

But we're talking about the Big Bang here. Our physics hadn't been developed yet. Who says the explosion had to be normal ie conform to our laws of physics?

Then they talk about dark flow, dark matter, and dark energy to make the mathematics of the standard model of cosmology work.

Dark matter is invisible and undetectable. Maybe it doesn't exist and the maths is wrong?

I haven't ever seen a Breaking Bad episode. HAH! I AM MORE BEHIND THE CURVE THAN YOU!

Also, re the universe thing...it just means there's a shitload of physics we don't know about yet. Imo there are few things more exciting than this fact.

Can the large hadron collider find my £1 coin? It fell out of my pocket whilst watching Horizon. Disappeared down the back of of the sofa. Can't find it.

Its long been pointed out that dark matter was invented to fix the huge hole in the gravity of the universe..the very name dark matter is ridiculous and it remains the huge white elephant in the room of cosmology...it may turn out that red shift is wrong and the universe isnt expanding at all.

Tis'll good, but i'm getting pretty sick of these white middle class Americans who have these 'prank' channels, then start doing this homeless shit, purely because they get more attention.

Don't get me wrong, they're doing good things, but I just feel it doesn't really count if you don't have the right intentions.

I saw one the other day where a woman who cleaned a restaurant was given like $50 by one of those kids as a 'tip' and she was really thankful and stuff, but 5 minutes after the guy who gave her the money left, she gave all the money to a homeless guy who was asleep at one of the tables.

Now THAT is inspirational.

But...but...but @Moriath I wasn't joking :(
How behind the curve are you hehe..

Btw how easy is it to put replacement double glazing in windows over a conservatory. Also I guess how much do you charge lol. Got three back and one from upstairs window. Two are have a conservatory under them.

Also the windows you do are high quality?

We can do most of it from the inside, so its usually not a problem working over conservatories.

And all our windows are energy A rated, most are these days as it ticks all the boxes with the relevant bodies (fensa)

I was in Bracknell on Friday too

It wasn't "invented", it's like any theory in physics. Lot's of ideas are thrown out there and the one that fits all the facts the best is left standing.

But we're talking about the Big Bang here. Our physics hadn't been developed yet. Who says the explosion had to be normal ie conform to our laws of physics?

Because those same laws of physics have to apply 0.00000......0001 seconds after the Big Bang and several billion years later. Inflation is just standard physics, Einsteins General Relativity in-fact. Today one of the values in his equation is zero. Back at the Big Bang Inflation says it wasn't, which meant everything flew apart very very fast indeed.

Then they talk about dark flow, dark matter, and dark energy to make the mathematics of the standard model of cosmology work.

Dark matter is invisible and undetectable. Maybe it doesn't exist and the maths is wrong?

Not impossible, it's happened before. Either you assume the maths is correct so "something" is out there that is affecting the spin and orbit of galaxies but we can't see it, or as you say the maths is wrong. Since the maths in question is gravity which has been working pretty well until now, it'll be very interesting indeed if that needs a tweak.

Maddox still on top of his game over a decade later.

Is his style to be a bit daftly over-critical, taking things a bit too serious(for entertainment value)? If so; cool tuff :p

And on dark matter etc; yeah scientists make sh*t up all the time, just to fit their rules, rules of other people, or just for fun because hey, science is the "truth" :p

The idiocy of BT

They phoned the other day to say they will now be charging me for BT sport even though I have their top infinity package. So I told them that I would be binning them soon anyway as with Sky I can get free unlimited broadband for two years if I have sky sports, which I do.

BT got the arse and starting wafffling on about me being stuck in a 2 year contract if I switch to Sky (even though to renew I would also be on a 2 year contract with BT) They couldn't quite get it through their mind that its free so who the fuck cares if its 2 years.
