I was in the Boeing factory a couple of months back and the hanger where they assemble several 747's at once is vast. You stand on this big gantry and look down on these giant machines. And they still aint got nothin on an a380!

Unless I can fly business or first, I have no interest in flying on a A380. Its just as uncomfortable in cattle class as a smaller aircraft and just takes longer to get on and off. I can appreciate the engineering, but as a passenger? Meh.

The overwhelming majority of police officer do not join to bully people or because they are on a power trip.

I agree 100% with you that the overwhelming majority of police don't join to bully people or because they're on a power trip. Totally agree.

However, once in the force that's exactly what the majority end up doing.

Had a friend who joined the force after Uni. Very intelligent, idealistic, kind and caring person. Would never say boo to a goose and would genuinely walk around ants on the pavement and was a pleasure to be around.

After his basic training and a month into the job proper he told me, ashen-faced, that mobs of cops jump into the riot vans on Friday nights around Leeds literally looking for a fight. Anyone who resisted was pulled into the back of the van and given a right good going over.

Twelve months into the job he was having a horrid time. He was being victimised by the other cops because he'd taken it upon himself to try and prevent them from acting in this way - not just on the weekend jollies but in their day-to-day dealings.

Two years later he transferred because the victimisation was overwhelming him. He told me he was just going to keep quiet - and it did the trick.

The cops in the new place (and subsequent transfers and promotions) pull the same shit. However, they've beaten him. He had to leave, or join them. And join them he did, at first reluctantly, and then with enthusiasm and gusto.

He started coming out with statements like "you can spot a criminal by what he wears" - fully against his own (correct) argument that you can't - bankers, fraudsters, perverts and paedo's come from all walks of life. And went rapidly downhill from there.

We're no longer friends. The lad is now an utter (violent) cunt.

And rather than being the exception - my experience and the experience of most of the people I know who have cops in the family (me included) when interacting with the cops is that they're power tripping wankers.

I get pulled over in my car at least twice a year for no reason. None. That's illegal - and as I've had the car for 11 years now that's more than 22 times.

And I'm not even black. Imagine how it is for them?

My brother was hospitalised for 3 weeks for asking for a badge number (a back-of-the-van affair) - after watching a school "friend" get arrested for being a dick. Fair enough - so he asked the cop which nick he was being taken to so he could tell this lad's mum. He got told to fuck off by the cop for asking the question - and upon asking for the badge number he was hospitalised for his trouble.

No court, no complaints procedure, no investigation - and he wasn't arrested. Just hospitalised.

I watched five cops in a next door neighbour's garden laugh whilst their dog mauled a screaming teenager that they'd dragged out of the neighbour's shed. After a good minute of this (and a minute is a long time) they pulled the dog off him and then, one by one, took a go at putting the boot in.

My uncle laughingly and openly admits that this sort of activity is the norm in front of his family - and his own kids hate him.

The police are prejudiced power-crazed arseholes who take the easy route in their day-job rather than being the example that they should, in theory, be.

In short, when you see one, think cunt. 9 times out of 10 you're going to be right. I fucking hate them for this and the shit you never see, but know goes on.

Seems a pretty shitty story tbh. There was no mention of cigarettes in the original video - in the original video there was talk about him breaking up a fight and it looked like the cops were responding to that.

On the face of it it looks like the cigarettes story has been concocted to make the cops not look like they were harassing him.

Cops, making shit up to cover their asses? Never!

Not saying that's true - but it doesn't have look like it.

I had a friend who worked as a doctor, total awesome guy, now he's a pretentious dick that gives kids dangerous medicines. 9 out of 10 doctors are dicks on powertrips. Ofcourse the story doesn't work if i don't say that the doctor gets away with it, in a situation that normally would mean the loss of lisence etc.

Here's another example of my life that doesn't seem like a copy/pasted job at all.

Since i usually write on every other line anyway.

See? Must be true.

So, you're saying I'm lying?

Why not put me back on ignore?

Edit: I daresay the cops in Finland are better than the cops in the UK. You've a better educated and more social population after all...

I am currently related to 5 coppers in 3 forces ranging from someone at Hendon to someone high up in Diplomatic Protection. And none of them act anything like what you have described. A lot of them remember the old dinosaur cops who think Gene Hunt had all the answers but they explain that the modern force chases those officers away. The Paper work involved in a complaint being made not to mention the fact that everyone believes the victim makes back of the van beatings a thing of the past. Most police vehicles are fitted with CCTV so if someone gets put int he back of a van (captured on CCTV most likely) then gets out at the station needing hospital treatment (captured on CCTV 100%) then they would look at that and heads would roll.

My cousin 6 weeks after getting his job was suspended for 3 weeks because someone made a complaint that he had punched them. The CCTV from the car showed the guy headbutting the back of his seat saying how he would report him. Even with that it was fully investigated. So if you brother was hospitalized and we are not talking 10 - 15 years ago then why has he not complained? If he innocently asked for a badge number and got put in hospital he has a good case.

I have been pulled over 3 times this year and after at most 5 minutes of Yes Officer, No Officer I have been on my way and every time they have given me the form with the reason for my stop. If they pull you over and don't give you this then complain every time the set off the blues and twos they have to log it and report why so they will have a record of why they stopped you. If you do not get this paper work it is normally because you have told them to poke it after getting aggressive and angry after being stopped.

I've never been pulled over in about 4 years of driving and I'm in my early 20s driving around in a shitbox of a Corsa. I drive plenty at night too.

No i'm saying your personal story of one towns cops doesn't make a 9 out of 10 rule(like 90% of your "fact" basing) and that your wall of text looks like a copy/paste job.

On the whole "put me back on ignore" thing, no. I put you on ignore if you bother me, doesn't work to benefit you.

First time I got pulled over this year I went round a round about without stopping with a cop car watching. While he said it was safe he said the highway code still says I should slow so he did the normal checks and sent me on my way with a "slow down". The second time I swerved round something in the road after midnight and the car coming towards me was a cop car, so I got pulled over and breathalyzed. Again explained it and was on my way in minutes. The 3rd on was for going through a red light at roadworks, it was close though. Again just a warning and on my way fairly quickly. All 3 have been because of the way I was driving so I have not hard feelings.

I can only imagine that being put in a category based on the colour of their skin pigmentation by people like yourself is pretty shit to be fucking honest.

If you'd bothered to read my "wall of text" that I typed in by hand whilst recalling my actual memories then you'd have found a multitude of stories from a multitude of places involving a multitude of people.

I've never, ever, had a pleasant interaction with a member of her majesty's constabulary other than when I've asked them for directions.

Complain to the people who perform the action?

I complain every single time to the pious little shithead who's pulled me over to talk about my car, or why he gives a fuck that my Type-R has red seats.

When my missus drives my car she tells me that she has cops speed up until they're alongside her, look over, realise she's a woman, then simply drive on. She's been pulled over just the once. For no reason.

I can only imagine that being put in a category based on the colour of their skin pigmentation by people like yourself is pretty shit to be fucking honest.

What? I'm making the point that despite not being one of the obviously and statistically-provable put-upon minorities I still get pulled over because of the car I'm driving. I'm also saying "wow - it must be *really* shit to be on the receiving end of that because of your skin colour rather than just your one-off purchasing choice".

I can only imagine that a black man would identify better with the meaning of my post - which identifies with their shoddy treatment at the hands of "law enforcement" - than you have Meg :(

Edit: And thinking about it - two people I used to work with had the same identifiable experience - both had Type-R's, both were regularly pulled.

3. Guess that's a multitude, not that using the word multitude is there to just make it sound bigger :p Also they are one sided stories at that, with facts missing ofcourse.

Key being...

I've never,

...does not make it a fact.

Yeah because all black people must have been arrested at some point in time so they would totally understand...

I never said that Meg. I said that they're measureably more put upon because of their skin colour. That's a fact - and you know it.

Apart from the money saving aspect, I think the community support officers work well in these situations.. Give them more power, such as arresting etc, but let them deal with walking the streets, talking to kids, giving them a bollocking

The Police are too general in this country - One minute you're trained how to disarm a guy with a knife, then you treat everyone as if they have a knife - It's training for the worst case situation.

It's a bit like sending soldiers to a country who are trained to kill, then tell them regardless of all the stones they get thrown at, they can't retaliate.

PCSO's wear stab vests now too. The problem with having a happy go lucky plod now is that it is the 14 years olds that he would be giving a bollocking too that are likely to pull out a knife. I have now idea how you can fix the fact that it seems like kids from the age of 7 call cops cunts and know there is nothing the cop can do.

It seems to be a wider problem with a lack of respect. I remember getting the train not long ago and these four kids were throwing beer all over this woman. She came and sat next too me and they moved on and started throwing beer over someone else. She came and sat with us and they went into the next carriage. I am not a hard nut and I could lie and say I threatened to give them a hiding but they must have decided not to bother with me given my size. But these 12-15 year olds have so little respect they decided throwing beer at random old people was the way to behave and how do you fix that. These people will be our voting population soon and failing to raise kids of their own properly.

No i'm saying...
Yeah and i'm saying it's BS

So, you are saying I'm lying.

I'm guessing the sad sad people who feel the need to lie on forums in fallacious attempt to make their boring lives more interesting or relevant to the topic at hand or to bolster their self esteem in are the sort of people who go around accusing other people of making shit up.

You know how it goes Toht. CTFO etc. etc. etc...

You two think waaaay too much into stuff.

Nah, Scouse just likes to turn simple things into massive problems.

Very simple; "9 out of 10 cops are cunts" is BS.

Not calling him a liar, not making it into anything special, just calling it bs.

And before he jumps on the "well you calling it bs is calling me a liar" moronics;

""Bullshit" does not necessarily have to be a complete fabrication; with only basic knowledge about a topic, bullshit is often used to make the audience believe that one knows far more about the topic by feigning total certainty or making probable predictions. It may also merely be "filler" or nonsense that, by virtue of its style or wording, gives the impression that it actually means something."

If you not done anything wrong what's the issue about being pulled over?

It's like saying I been searched every time I been on a plane or something. You drive a high performance car I presume in Liverpool which is a poorer city so you stand out. Get a crappy nova and see that drop.

And no it's not illegal to pull you 22 times in 11 years.

Because it's against the law.

They have to have a reason. Period. Otherwise you can have your life interfered with unnecesarily - and as long as you're not breaking any laws you have a right to a private life without interference by the state.

Being pulled over 22 times in 10 years for no reason is the perfect demonstration of why it's illegal to stop someone for no reason. I have the right to go about my business without undue interference.

If I'm commiting a crime? Fair enough. If I'm not then the state can cunt the fuck off - because that's what the law says the state should do.

Bend over and take it from the state like a good little obedient plebian if you must Moriath - however, as a law abiding citizen myself, I get really fucked off by routine illegal action by the police...

Wiki actually :p

Actually about the "it's illegal to stop my car", according to findlaw.co.uk and similar fashion on police own websites;

"When can the police stop me in my car? The police can stop you at any time when you are driving your car, and they can ask to see you driving licence, insurance details and/or MOT certificate. They can also check your car for roadworthiness."

Seems it's perfectly legal to stop and check, which is reasonable anyway.

Just got home, that was a long day, but stood about 20ft from the runway and watched the whole display finishing with the Spitfire, which makes a lovely sound.

They euro fighter is deafening, and watching the current Lynx helicopter doing loops and flying backwards was a sight to see, it goes vertically up then let's itself fall backwards, I'm sure helicopters aren't meant to do that, amazing to see

Went on the A380 but it's just a shell inside with wiring everywhere there are 2 flight seats in the middle of the plane, almost on the wings, on the lower deck with about 8 monitors, that's where they currently fly it from, not up in the cockpit. There are banks of servers where the seats should be, so I suppose it's still in its final testing phase atm

Anyway took loads of pics, but they'll probably be shit, I'll have a look through them later and post up the best ones

They announced at the end that they had done $101 billion in business this week, that actually did 3 times as much on the first day this year than they did on the first day in 2012....mental money

Actually in the UK the Police do need s reason to stop you..it could be anything...including a shed load of things at their discretion..but they do have to claim something for the stop...they cant stop you and say..we think you might be an asshole.
I got stopped by the Police in my dads car..they.came up with the excuse that the exhaust was blowing..it wasnt..so I climbed under the car and started pretending to check it..they were like forget that..have you been drinking etc..I answered everything from under the car..they kept asking me to get from under the car and each time I said..'found the leak'..they knew a smartass and gave up.

Did you see the new cheapo jetfighter made from off the shelf parts.
