Really, because the actual sensible black box would make sure the speed limit was enforced automatically by the car rather than force you to into an arbitrary safe/unsafe category and charge you accordingly. That's the issue with this is that it is nothing more than a revenue generation scheme and likely a stepping stone to road pricing, i.e. you now have 90% of cars with tracking so now we're going to bill you according to use. It's invasive and unnecessary, no generation before now has required this level of monitoring to obtain insurance.Actually, this is one of the few things I don't have much of a problem with because the benefits outweigh the cons.
Responsible drivers (like me) don't have to support the retards who can't or won't drive properly.
Makes it much harder to steal a car.
Potentially makes it much easier to plan roads and ease congestion.
I know there is the whole thing about surveillance but despite what the swivel headed have to say, I doubt the government much care about my weekly trip to Aldi and the butchers and my 10 minute drive to work every day.
Oh to see the confusion on job's face as he flicks between the two threads...Shouldn't the last few posts about black boxes be in the UKIP thread?

I don't drive, and i've never learnt, because i never saw the point with the price of insurance.Really, because the actual sensible black box would make sure the speed limit was enforced automatically by the car rather than force you to into an arbitrary safe/unsafe category and charge you accordingly. Replying to everything I post with bullshit responses would make you less of a nob.Not being a "bit of a boy racer" would make it even safer for him and everyone around him.

File that under..'If youre not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about'
I have the same and it's awful tbh, the ratings don't give you any valid feedback and forces you stay within limit no matter what.... like when you are on an empty 30 stretch and traffic starts queuing behind you. Also it doesn't understand the difference between harsh acceleration and moving off quickly smoothly. It seems to me their telematics only works with small engined cars.I've got a black box with Bell. It's great - it was about £500 cheaper than anywhere else, I get my no claims after 10 months and 7% off if they consider me a "safe driver".
Not aimed at you but this chaps my arse on the trip to work. It does not matter if a 30 is empty. 30 limits are nearly always in built up residential areas and are that limit because a person has a greater chance to survive being hit by you at that speed. I don't mind people speeding in a 60 or a 70 but people that speed in a 30 are idiots getting there a bit earlier is not worth killing someone for me. And I don't care if you speed 10000 times and don't hurt anyone the fact it could happen makes doing the speed limit worth it.I have the same and it's awful tbh, the ratings don't give you any valid feedback and forces you stay within limit no matter what.... like when you are on an empty 30 stretch and traffic starts queuing behind you. So campaign for harder driving tests or higher points for driving offences, don't give the insurance companies (who screw you for profit) the next sick to beat you over the head with. You'll be talking out the other side of your mouth when they introduce a bad driver surcharge scheme. Speed 10% of your annual mileage 20% price hike. No, just go ahead and file it under "I am a responsible driver and I am fed up of having to pay ludicrous insurance premiums because they will give any spastic a driving license these days"
Also enjoy the motorways when you can't overtake... can't go over 70 remember....
That confirms it for me tbh, having been in your car on the motorway that result is bullshit fella as your motorway driving has always been solid. In the motorways it's lenient to be fair. Expect low scores if you were consistently over though. after getting below average in my first few weeks I did a test week, I had to break harshly once because someone decided to try and occupy the lane I was in in the a3. Other than that I went over limit only briefly once or twice. So pretty safe week off driving...slow accelerating too. Got a bad rating that week with the feedback saying stay within the limits and avoid harsh braking.
That's why this is stupid, your brain won't record that information so you'll never know yourself. If they have no variance allowance they are stupid. I never intend to speed but I have been guilty of following traffic before and like you say there are hills ect. Honestly I think it should be based on an average if you spend over 15% of your time speeding then you get a slap on the wrist. That should allow you to overtake and allow for accidental speeding.
But I am someone who would sign up for automated driving in a second I hate driving with a passion. If I get a company car I want it to be an auto with cruise control sit behind something and coast![]()
No, just go ahead and file it under "I am a responsible driver and I am fed up of having to pay ludicrous insurance premiums because the insurance industry is effectively a protection racket
Basically, I want a system that penalises everyone else, but not me or people who drive like me.
The system should definitely know I don't need fining, despite me openly admitting being not very good and alluding to being a mobile hazard, albeit within the speed limit...
