I'm due a phone upgrade from my HTC Desire HD, I wanted to get the One X+ but it didn't seem like much of a game changer unlike other HTC's.

Considering the Samsung Galaxy S3, opinions?

Waiting till the new lot come out. S4 or new HTC will be out in a couple of months probably.

If you can wait a bit the S4's coming out in Q2, closely followed by all the other manufacturers releasing their quad-core full HD new models.

Chances are you won't need all that super-fast high end stuff unless you're playing the latest games on it. My S2 is positively ancient now, but it does everything I need it to. I'll upgrade when they can produce a decent battery.

I'd be quite happy to keep my Desire HD but it seems to be developing more and more problems as time goes on, hence the desire (geddit?) to upgrade. I don't mind waiting like, the problems are more of an inconvenience over anything else. I'll probably just get a sim only rolling contract sorted until the next line is out.

From what I've read though the S3 has a pretty decent battery; that was the main thing putting me off the One X+, the apparent terrible battery life which seems to be plaguing most HTC phones as of late.

All the s4 stuff is just rumours, and I wouldn't read into it. Samsung won't turn the Galaxy line into the Note, they are two separate products. The s4 is very unlikely to have a bigger screen than the s3, it's more likely to have more ram, and a better display. So a S3.5 more than a brand new handset.
