He's taking the piss. His point was about the absurdity of running all of the UK's time for the benefit of a few Scottish farmers. Obviously the BBC reporting it with a straight face doesn't really help get this across. God forbid we have any levity or satire in the modern political system.

Saw these on Gizmodo yesterday. Love to know what's involved in doing these (I have some old WWII pics of my Granddad I'd like to get done).

I would assume its a combination of guess and hard work, but it is a bit of mystery!

I've done a few of those myself, it is a bit of guesswork/desaturate colors to see result on some parts, but otherwise the process is rather simple when you get the hang of it.

Gaffy, if you like, post one and i can give it a shot. Though i can't promise a speedy response as i don't know when i get the time.

There's quite a good tutorial here, it's not easy and it takes a lot of patience and to'ing and fro'ing with shades of colours. Also basic competence in Photoshop, and a tablet or something would make it much easier.

I dabbled with it a while ago but didn't come out with anything nearly as good as those posted above. The burning monk is particularly good.
