I feel like I've missed a trick by not playing Elite: Dangerous.

I picked it up in Beta, put about 30 hours into it and was really enjoying myself. Then they wiped the saves for release and I went "fuck it" and never went back. Had a couple of looks in VR (utterly stunning) but by then had moved here and didn't have the space or time.

There was a big Thargoid war and some of the footage was really fucking cool (I watched an in-game vid of a 'titan' exploding in a nebula - the captain of the ship had to get to like earth > mars distances so the explosion wouldn't take him out.

Now apparently they're releasing a "go colonise the solar systems" update. Including planets, of course.

I think I actually have the sort of eternal account for all updates etc? Haven't touched it in years

I think that you add on stuff and it opens abilities.

I look at it now and think time sink. but look at all my other wasted time...

Edit: Apart from Noita. No time in Noita is wasted, apart from all if it. All those hundreds of hours

Same, I found a load of exclusive goodies in my account for being part of that early Lifetime Access Pass that can't be obtained any other way. I actually started playing it this month for the first time since beta a decade ago since I saw the same Thargoid news. Missed the end of the war but there's actually content in the game now. It's still shallow but there's a *lot* of it. The flight engine is still the best in class along with the audio. It has certainly been keeping me occupied.
