Fuck. Where to start.

To start with, wait until the money hit the account and then send my boss a courtesy text. I wouldn't tell anyone apart from my parents and girlfriend, then leave the country for super expensive couple of weeks to relax.

When I got back, I would hire the best lawyers and financial advisors for a lengthy chat about long term investments (probably gold, property, standard FTSE trackers but not sure where on from there). I understand Camelot provide these services as a matter of course anyway.

Then I would:

- see my parents ok
- see my sister's ok (FUCK YOU TREM)
- see my closest and personal friends ok (they'll be my entourage)
- give up Facebook

For me:

- buy a piece of land in the north of Scotland and build a mansion
- buy a piece of land in central Scotland (not far from Edinburgh airport and not far from a private school) and build a mansion
- buy a luxury penthouse apartment in Manhattan (I love NYC)
- buy a luxury place in the south of France / Monaco (escape the Scottish weather)

(that would be my immediate property portfolio)

- join Gleneagles Golf & Spa
- buy a spread of exotic cars
- kit my houses out with integrated AV equipment (B&O TVs, bespoke cinema, audio in everyroom, KEF reference ahoy)
- take up photography on a permanent indulgent level (Pentax 645D of course)
- race cars competitively
- learn to fly
- hire the best PGA professional to get awesome at golf
- spend a good couple of years travelling the world and staying in the best places, photographing as I go
- buy a range of designer suits, shoes and clothes
- buy a Hublot swiss watch
- start a family
- start my own business

My old man turns 62 this year, I'd also like to do a fair amount of these things with him.

That's all I can think of just now.

That's if you just stuck it in the bank (which would be madness). An investment portfolio on that kind of money should be looking at 5-8% return, even in the current environment (in other words, 8m-12m pretax). Not that anyone would just bank it; if it had been me I'd have given away about £40M before I started spending anything significant myself.

Only if they are fools, any decent investment advisor could get them much more. Combine it with some great tax accounting, and you should be getting 10mill a year minimum.
