It's quite leafy and nice, but then I've not ventured far from the main street. Quite an 'innit bruv' thing going on.

JK Rowling was on my flight from Edinburgh again, she sat infront of me on the plane. I had a hangover and was floating the odd stinking pump. I bet she could smell them.

Thank fuck, summer is no use for photography when the sum sets at 10:30pm (up here anyway) and rises at 4am.

I'm stuck in Staines on business too, not visiting IBM though!
It's crap, but at least I'm going home tomorrow and I'm watching the football now :)

Point 3 is wrong. We do indeed only used a small proportion of our brain. I think the person making the poster did not understand the point. Of course every part of the brain is used, and most parts of the brain play a small additive role in all our cerebral functions (the theory of neuroplasticity) contrary to what this poster suggests.

We use about 10-25% of our brain's 'potential' - although no one can really say what this unknown potential would yield if we were to be able to utilise it.

I am pretty sure that certain areas of the brain can grow to accomodate more information, but in reality it is not the size of the brain but the 'connections' between the neurons within it. I read something about Einstein's braining having a larger lateral sulcus, that would make sense I guess, but I assume that there is far more to his intelligence then that.

Correct. It's more to do with which areas are inter-linked and how many. Also the number of neurons / connections between those areas.

Yeah erm.... What?

Do we really use only 10 percent of our brains?: Scientific American

i think the question is posed incorrectly, it's not do we only use 10% of our brain, but do we use our whole brain to only 10% efficiency?

his arguemnt about accident or disease destroying less than 90% of the brain still ahving dire consequences is just stupid, you could have 10 cups and fill them all 10% of the way, if one breaks you still lose 10% of your liquid (brain functionality)

but that's not to say that you couldn't fill all 10 cups to the top
