No work today, finished my work of 80 photo touchups(read fixing-halftorn-ups), so today i'm going to just sit here in my undies, get my death knight to 85 and finish noblegarden. What a wonderful waste of time :p

shame

my wow account was hacked (and since your mail address is linked to your wow account now - by extension, that was compromised too)

It happened whilst i was on holiday for a few weeks, around the same time that a load of other people were "hacked" whilst on holiday. The theory is that an employee was selling "inactive accounts" and mistook the poeple on holidy for people who werent playing anymore.

Following that incedent, i terminated all contact with blizzard and wow because...

a - I didnt feel like takeing the risk again.
b - I couldnt be bothered to re-level a mage to 85 for the 3rd time (server change on the second one)

i was quite getting into the competetive pvp with my little arcane wielding gnome too :(

Did you sue them for that? since it was one of their employees they should take full responsability from the data leak.

nop

There was no proof that it was an employee, it was just a roumour, that may or may not have been leaked.

the timing and circumstances for the wave of hacks, were all very strange all over the holiday period, and all people who had been inactive for a couple of weeks or more.

Blizzards official responce was that it was likely the result of phishing or a trojan / keylogger, but frankly that is bollocks, cos i am not an idiot when it comes to net security.

ill never know what it was.

They would also return everything you had, including the character and gear.

yes they did indeed, but i did not feel safe using there service any longer, and did not want to play on that server anymore.

so waiting for the next decent pvp mmo :(

Well the most common fault lies in the user, as annoying as it may be.

Could've been your mail that was hacked, not the account.

You do have to take precautions in MMOs yourself and if you can't think of any reason it could be your fault, i can understand the mistrust, but otherwiaes...well ;)

This is why I always carry a newspaper to the toilet. Something to read and something to whipe your arse with incase a roomm8 pull a prank or politicians are on the face of it.

Odds are you opened a phishing mail containing a trojan with a keylogger tbh, as Blizzard won't have your email pw anyway.

Download Avast free edition spybot search and destroy and do a full system scan. Oh and don't use your credit card on that machine till you do
