My view is tell people to do as you do, otherwise their opinion is literally meaningless.

Its a moral issue, not a legal issue. Just because something is legal yet morally wrong, does not mean one should take advantage of it, they certainly shouldn't moan about others doing it.

Also, "important Journalism" in a discussion about the Guardian. haha, good one.

Bingo - as soon as you go one a moral crusade about something which you take full advantage of yourselves, it does diminish your ability to preach. But then, it is full of privately educated writers with holiday homes, who will happily tell anyone who listens that having second properties is immoral, and how people with state education should hold more positions in government.

Par for the course with that rag, sadly.

Explained why that cannot work in my post.

But if you want to live in an overly simplistic moral construct then fair enough.

One of the things about this country that annoys me the most, is the attitude people have to nice cars. Own a Ferrari in France or Italy, and despite their communist tendancies, you will still get people coming up to you in petrol stations to tell you how awesome it is. In the UK, drive around in a Ferrari and you'll get spat on.

Utterly bizarre if you ask me, but then we do enjoy the green eyed monster over here. Explains the Labour party I guess.

I've never been spat at in my Ferrari.

I got an email today from a guy who we were talking to on geneology...he's a sort of 3rd cousin and we are related from two brothers back in the 1900s whonran a large firm in Liverpool.
He has written a book about his side of this family tree...big seller Im sure.
He has our side in it and wants to add more info for a second book.
So holy fuck ..I searched for him and found he writes lots of books about Australian law, then I find hes one of Australias top lawyers and works for the government and his books sell in the 10s of thousands.
Any I will of course be telling the twat AI is going to take his job.

To be fair. They're right. Could definitely live in India.

None of them want to live in India, that's why they're all here. Of course, one can't generalise about such a massive place with arguably stunning bits - this is more in the context of the cities and outlying villages which are undeniably, and literal, shit holes.

Meh. I would't want to live in Middlesbrough, Peterborough or Merthyr Tydfil. There's plenty of shitholes in the UK. But there's plenty of places that are awesome too.

I get Gaff's reticence also - but it'd be beach or mountains for me :)

I find London overcrowded, smelly and saps out your identity.
India would be a living hell...you could live in the country, but theres shit everywhere and they are prone to gang raping your daughters.

Oh definitely, but there's a gulf between our shitholes and theirs - even our most poverty stricken junky dens have flushing toilets and water you can drink from the tap.

Yeah but they're violent hellholes full of chav wankers ready to start a fight (or just assault you) at not even a moment's notice. They're social hellholes, not simply poverty stricken hellholes.

But yep - you try to avoid both.

Speaking of hellholes, Skye has gone to the shitter up here - it's been totally overrun with tourists and the infrastructure designed for farming can't cope.

I'm in two minds about this. Firstly, showing up to a Scottish island in coaches and motorhomes when you've not booked anything is just fucking retarded. On the other hand, Highland Council and the Scottish Government need to step in and lay out a strategy on how to tackle it. I really don't see them throwing money at more roads and parking spaces, Skye may be popular now due to all the filming locations, but it'll pass.
