I really wish 'different views' within academia didn't leave the realms of academia and didn't become mainstream.

In actual fact, everyone bitching about feminists and such, unless you actually read the texts (@Raven may have read some) you'll realise that some of the views DO actually have some kind of evidence to back up what they're saying, sometimes you cringe and think that's kind of drawn out, but yeah, it links, and sometimes can make an interesting read.

It's the same for Marxism in the 80s, it was MASSIVE in the UK, however in the West there was still a massive witch-hunt to take down Marxists, but in the world of academia, it was better to discuss ridiculous ideas and to put them down in an intelligent way, not to lump them all into one cage and throw stones at them.

No, it's not that, it's people outside of the academic world trying to sound clever, which doesn't really work.

As I said, if you find some proper academic 'extremist' view articles, you'll probably raise some eye brows but they usually make some sense, academics usually respect the views of other academics who have extreme views if they can back up their arguments with sufficient evidence.

Confused here..thought I was saying that, but anyway..you may think I'm Mr pc gone mad, but I do agree with a lot of language use 'control', it is by far the most powerful thing we use and the 'token' minority in adverts IS a good thing, by slowly accustomising people to people who look different being the same as us.
It's when it becomes a law, backed by a mob that it fails, if they just have the fucking grasp of basic human behaviour to realise asking people to be nice would work a bazilluon times better, bigots would look like idiots instead of having unspoken support by the masses for daring to speak their mind.

Way too complex to answer fully in a few words.

To a point where people take responsibility for understanding that other's have a different opinion and are perfectly entitled to it. As long as the opinion being stated is not aimed at inciting violence. PC is OK but what it is turning into now is a step too far. I'm fine with them keeping those ideas and ideals but just like religion I am not obligated and should not be forced to do the same.

Mostly skip racism as I am totally in agreement that it is bad, no excuses. However, that does not mean it should not be discussed and debated. I do accept that others have a different viewpoint and have the freedom to think that way.

We appear to be at a point now where you not only have to be careful what you say but that your also responsible for how other parties might overact (triggered). Being polite and opening a door for women is now a gamble, do you get a thank you or does it result in being called a "misogynist prick" for instance. Whilst I accept that words can be hurtful, they are just words. Now the SJW's say you cant use a large portion of our language because it is inflammatory or misogynist or gender biased. We used to at least be able to say things in a jokey/sarcastic way. In a group you don't know well that is a risk now. Being white is somehow entitled and I'm seemingly personally responsible for colonialism and slavery as well.

Some of the stuff coming out of US SJ activists is also quite insane asking for bans on everything they do not agree with. The fact that they do not see the resemblance to fascism with such agendas is quite baffling.
