Just doing some work on one of my modules which is basically 'Murica.

Doing post-Civil War atm, just found this quote (Although it's more paraphrasing.)

'Nothing in all of history, equals this wonderful... transformation of four million human beings from... the auction block to the ballot-box.'

Shame it took another 100 years for the theory to become reality for large numbers of them.

Well, the amendment was meant to give them absolute equality.

Which still hasn't come into effect.

I guess for most of the abolitionist intelligentsia it was about the legal and constitutional aspect of equality, rather than the reality of equality.

I don't see any game changing battery technology anytime soon so have the electric car supporters actually thought out how big these charging stations would gave to be to even supply just a 10% takeup...imagine the queues with each car taking at least 10 mins.

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/mar/10/electric-cars-could-cut-oil-imports-40-by-2030

The charging stations are the (relatively) trivial part of the problem; they're already popping up on streets and don't take up much space; you can even get them fitted at home (and most of the case studies suggest electric cars will be mainly urban second cars used for short journeys). The problem is further up the chain; there's already a gap in energy generation capacity and sticking 2m electric cars on the road isn't going to help.

yeah im all for electric cars but for a country like UK or Germany where most of the power is fossil fuels it seems like a bad move if the aim is to reduce fossil fuel consumption

works really well in Norway (they have had a small but thriving electric car market since the 80s and now its absolutely booming)

Same in Denmark. You'd be surprised to see how many Teslas are driving around Copenhagen these days. Even heard they are out of stock, so if you want one you have to sign up

Isn't there a massive tax incentive for electric cars in Norway and Denmark? I seem to remember reading Norway is Teslas biggest export market because after tax a Tesla is way cheaper than a similar sized BMW.

Yes, the past few years there has been no taxation on registrating a vehicle with an electrical motor rather than a petrol one. From January 1st 2016 this is out the window and an electrical car will be double the price of a similiar car with a petrol engine

Moved house and went to pick up the motorbike last night. Feck me it's terrifying riding it in high wind.
The alarm I put on it keeps draining the battery, which is a drag.

A power station is massibely more efficient than a car engine - it's better to burn in a station and run cars on 'leccy.

Either way - until I can drive an electric car 400 miles, charge it in less than ten minutes and do another 400 they can cunt the fuck off...

Aye must be a wall mount for it somewhere. Like the push bikes ;)

My mate had his motor bike nicked and it was chained to a lamp post. With a heavy duty chain. Even with disk locks they can still steal them. Pick em up put them on the back of a truck. Really need a garage with bikes imo

Got an Oxford Monster chain, Datatool alarm/immobiliser, and keep it in the secure underground parking garage. Not much more I can do, but I would mount it in the living room if I could!

Thats insane, so much for the seperation of powers o_O

it reads like a movie script or something. I got linked to a conspiracy nut site after googling the above and the tin-foil guys were linking mysterious deaths in the BBC-esque scene to people having knowlege of the peado brigade. I would have dismissed it out of hand if I hadn't just read the other article. I mean, if one irate MP can do that to a journo, it's a small step to offing someone. Ofc, it's all stories on the internets, but hey ho.

so it turns out a jury felt that Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke did indeed rip off Marvin Gaye with the Blurred Lines single and have to pay over a good 75% of their earnings

I fucking hated that blurred lines song, but I don't really like the verdict. I'm worried that we'll see a lot more lawsuits, especially with how much sampling/remixing goes on in modern music. And in future it might be less financially stable artists who get sued for millions of dollars because their song sounds like another one.
