Been accepted for both eve and sb beta, only tried sb as eve isnt my thing, but sb is awful, the graphics are horrible, it was laggy on my amd 1800xp machine and GF4 graphics card.

I didnt play it much cause tbh it looked and played awful.

Humm... also on the Beta and personally don't think as highly of it. Reminds me of Anarchy Online. Yes its got lots of depth but its a long way from DAoC at this time imho.

sb has potential to be a great game when they iron out the probs with the US servers lag, but apart from that i'm havin a great time on it

alot of the game is pvp/pk and it appeals to alot of old uo players who liked that gamestyle

well actually it is not so hard to get through the pennines without aggro, AND hadrian's wall is a good zone for RvR...

but pennines is total shit compared to jamtland or breifene. Really I know its the pennine etc but would have prefered it to be somewhere a bit more flat

Pennines is easy to navigate through on transit...but it is a sod fighting there compared to jamtland/breifine.

how am I talking crap? I was giving my prediction as to what's gonna happen. Sorry if that offends you or whatnot , but just cause the weatherman says it's gonna rain don't mean it won't drought. I've heard a lot of people say they're gonna go try out SWG, SB, etc etc, so you should EXPECT a major hit in population for at least a day to a week. What I don't get is why you're getting all uppity about it?

and btw, considerring all my pre-SWG/SB etc /whos are damn near close to accurate, who says my post-SWG/SB /whos won't be?

As a matter of fact, was predicting the population on Excal to sink to what Pryd is now (in mid at least). I've been on there at 4 AM, and done a /who and gotten 15 people .

Likewise, done it near primetime and gotten 500+ peeps.

The population on the EU DAoC servers is still steadily rising, it has been since release and will continue to rise for a good while yet.

While it's true that many new games coming out will attract people away from DAoC, it's also true that more new players start every day and also oldies come back to play.

Personally I think it'll take either one exceptional game or a string of good ones to serously impact the server populations. I've known a lot of people since launch who have gone back and forth between DAOC and EQ.. I think if you play a game as much as you have to play one of these, it gets imbedded and takes a while to drag yourself away (as evidenced by the amount of people leaving/returning).

This means that when new (decent) games start competing for players, the numbers will eventually decline, albeit slowly.. (if Im right).
Who knows though.. SWG (or any of the others) might be great and DAOC will be left for dead.

They do have about 1000people more at average (I think, don't come pasting links to statistics site, I don't care if it's accurate or not )

Wouldn't 1000more people mean loads of more lvl 50's.. and wouldnt that mean HUGE zergs in emain...

...or... could it be that they understood that there is more places to RvR than Emain?

I don't see anything out there that is gonna really threaten DAOC. Might cause a slight hiatus but not much.

WoW is kind of a similar thing except with things like better gfx, horses (thumbs up) and a more fantasy role...

...generally looks quite good from movies/screenies if you are looking for an alternative. But then again, that is a long way off

I've been playing DAOC since around May last year.
For me it still rocks.

Whilst I appreciate people have a right to their opinion in not liking DAOC. I just don't understand why.

There's all sorts of possibilities on this game and more coming out as well.

Certainly in Scandanavia, DAOC is very popular, I hear only good things about it in the RPG stores.

Only zerg free place atm is HW.

Take last night. Emain was fought between forces of at times 7-9 FG on each side.

Went Odin's. Had some fun battles but again it was soon 5-7 FG on each side. (and that was while the big zergs were still in Emain)

Only option left is HW. But the problem with HW is you spend 1 hour getting bored to death then eventually kill a solo Mid...and 5 FG of Mids turn up to tackle you.

I've been looking into getting the game but thought that you had to have an American address/credit card to play the American server
