Allrighty then. This computer is my work computer, but I also use it for gaming on the weekends and in the evenings - which goes a long way to understanding why it has the configuration it has. I've built this machine up from spare parts lying around. I should also mention that I don't actually own a computer of my own, although if I did, it would be a very similar configuration. I also won't bother with all the external stuff like mice, mouse mats, speakers, monitors, scanners and the like, although for the record I'm about to trade in my 17" monitor for a 21". Anyway, for games:
SuperMicro P6DBS Motherboard
Dual P2-450's (not overclocked)
328Mb RAM
6Gb UDMA IDE HDD
18Gb Fujitsu SCSI HDD
9Gb Fujitsu SCSI HDD
32x ATAPI CD-ROM
Internal IDE ZIP drive (disabled - not enough power cables)
Internal ADIC DLT FastStor tape drive (disabled - not enough power cables)
Matrox Millenium G200 4+4 AGP
STB Black Magic 12Mb Voodoo2
Intel EtherExpress 10/100 PCI Netcard (promiscuous version)
SoundBlaster ISA Awe32
I don't care about framerates - although it runs around 56fps in 800x600 for Quake 2. When I had NT5 installed I was getting 83fps from the same set up, so I'm not sure what's going on there. I do plan to get another Voodoo2 and SLI them, but really I don't need it - I'm not a framerate junky. If it works fast and looks good, that's enough. More frames per second is not going to make me any better at Quake or Tribes or anything else.
The external stuff reads something like this:
A scanner (HP)
an external CDRW
17" SyncMaster monitor
some crappy set of powered speakers
IntelliMouse
£10 keyboard (don't need anything better)
And the DVD drive is in my laptop. For DVD's at home I use the laptop and a projector, although I'm considering purchasing a true DVD player rather than a computer-based one.
If this doesn't count, I'll have the post deleted.
