Aaah yes lan. I am currently using ch34p ass 10mb pci nics with coax for lan. Do you use same or have hub and 10/100mb cards or u simply do the same? Was thinking whether its worth upgrading (note cost) for games mainly, but file transfer aswell. The limit for 100mb is 2 PCs without HUB which isn't on :/

i run q2 in 800x600.

as soon as BT sort their lives out i will get ADSL for my server and get a *spare* Cisco 3000 router that is *lying around* then i can have Hardware NAT and IP routing.
Which is good.

and fast.
(we just got a Cisco 2500, which for some reason is abt 50,000000 times better. erm.)

i slapped a Canopus pure3d-1 4mb in my server (dual 333) and i got a staggering 53fps in q2 640x480 !

also i got DHCP set up, handy for large LANS that i go to or have down my place.
DHCP WINS too, so i got my web server set up nicley too, with real time stats and all.

I get 140fps (1024x768) with tweaking on timedemo1.

Connecting to a BW Server with a BW dialup I have seen sub-20 pings on empty servers...full up fluctuates between 40 and 80 but never goes above 90 ever....

and as someone else said, it's not what you have got it's what you do with it.

Personally, I'm "pants" at Q2/QW/Tribes, which is why I spend most of my time in IRC - talking rather than doing
