We hear about how stupid the banks were and why we have global recession but this is just down right ignorant and arrogant.

Despite two rulings from the courts saying that the bank charges that customers were being charged were unfair. The banks have now decided to take the case ex parte to the House of Lords, wasting more money and yet at the same time asking to be bailed out. This is just down right stupid, they'll lose.
