Yes, it is nice, and I'm not saying that people should not go and help, I'm saying that you should not EXPECT people to go and help, because you will only be let down. I mean honestly, there aren't very many people in the world who are willing to drop everything and go help out. I've done it on several occasions, and I've also ignored it on several occasions when I didn't feel like it or would rather do something else.

Annoying or not, it's a fact of life, and tbh, I don't appreciate being whinned at if I don't drop everything and rush to someone elses aid 24/7, and I'm sure the reast of the DAoC world doesn't appreciate it either.

I actually think Dreama is right on this.

If he doesnt wanna go fight guards at a keep, so be it. If DF opens and he wants to go in, so be it. Nothing to do with anyone else.

I don't think the problem was people not dropping everything when they were already busy to come help. It was that quite a lot of these people who were too busy to help were suddenly miraculously free as soon as df was open. ;)
Doesn't bother me though, i actually quite enjoy tryin to take keeps with small numbers. :)

This has nothing to do with vodkas posts about taking keeps for df.

Its about tha attitude of some people in the game. Its the mind set which annoys me personaly.

"I dont want to do it.. but ill take the rewards once someone else does the hard work." - this attitude does nobody any good.

I find if you expect everyone to act like that it's more of a pleasant surprise when people turn up to help (rather than a load of stress when they don't)

not taking part in keeps takes, but going to df when it opens is okay to me, most of the time ppl will be doing something more fun than retaking empty keeps

however whinning at people to open df if your not prepared to help yourself is ewil

I agree, the attitude is annoying, you know the one, the arrogance that some people spew when they tell others how to play a game they for them selves. You're 100% right, that attitude is annoying as hell.

Man some people should learn to read... like the post before this " sheph " .. please only flame me if you have a clue what your talking about or more to the point a clue as to what IM talking about :p! Im quite open to discussion but to talk non-sense...

And as for the people who seem to justify this way of playing by, well everyone else does it so i can too.. well.. speachless.

look, youre interpritation of the word decency may differ from others. I think what Dreama is trying to say is that each person is entitled to play the game how they choose to without being influenced by others. Now although i aggree with u that ppl should be more "helpful" (for lack of a better word) to each other that dosen't mean i have the right to tell them what being helpful means. if they disagree with me i don't have the right to tell them their wrong.

I admire youre principles and aspire to share them myself, but u must understand that just because someone disagrees with u, it doesn't make them wrong

tis not about 'i cant be bothered to take keeps' tis about ... 'umm i cant be bothered to take keeps, but ill be happy to run to DF when its open.'

everyone has the right to do what they want, imo its just stupid if your able to help take a keep .. u want DF open, but yet its something you dont want to do!

im pritty sure VF didnt wake up that day and say to herself ummmm i really really wana take a kee today :p no 1 likes taking keeps as far as i know, but its still nice to help out if your able (im probibly way off the point of the post but nvm, if thats the case you can just use what i have said as POST FARMAGE)

As usual, this falls to poor game design.

Rather stupid to have such an important feature as keep takes (and that relating to DF as well) be without some immediate reward (even just making it somewhat fun and/or interesting) to stimulate participation.

Another problem is the very limited in-game communication system.

the DF thing (among others) all comes down to situation i dare,

there IS a difference between some tit whinging in /gu 'omg, go take DF for me, i need teh pharm!' and someone quite happily xping/hunting elsewhere and allovasudden the little text comes up '<insert realm name here> has just captured <insert keep name here>'.
one quick '/realm' later and 'oou, df is open, lets go down there, thats always fun'

Perhaps a lot of people see it as 'Ooo..DF is open! Let us all go down there and get XP killed by the other realm's assassins. What fun. Oh joy.'
