I am a highschool student and play on 2 sports teams, I got addicted to Wow a couple years back and don't want that to happen again.

the main differance in consuming time between daoc and wow is that in wow u can play casual up to 60 the time u like, but when u reach 60 and need epic armor u need to play at a shedule almost every night to get the best gear. Daoc is the opposite, u need to play alot in the beginning and maybe shedule some xpgroups in as u cant find any in game. Then u have to get on raids for mls/cl/arties etc. But heres the good thing, when u finally are outfitted u can play as casual as u want and just log in when u want, join some random groups in rvr and have fun. Can be combine both with full time jobb and beeing a parent as most of the fun action takes place late afternoons/evenings.
I say daoc >>>>>>>>> wow in casual playing

I agree with Oboy if you want some free time but want some decent action I recommend DAoC and EVE. WoW is a life vampire and you don't realise it while you are playing.

And to the other chap:

EA did buy mythic yep. They wanted the revenue generated by a successful mmo and put all their casino chips on warhammer.

do they use buffbots as much in WoW? that's what still puts me off returning to DAOC in any form at the moment.

just get a 2nd account and level it up togheter, it wont cost u that much and the extra sub cost is like 2 beers in a bar.

WoW does not have buffbots as such. Classes have buffs spread across several characters. Theres no enhance cleric if you will.

If you can afford 2 a/cs in most mmos it may benefit you, some more than others just comes down to personal choice and finance. I try very hard not to have 2 accounts to the same game I'd rather maybe have 1 for the wife in limbo and level a bot for myself and if she's not interested maybe have another less time intensive mmo on the side.

Sorry to say for GOA DAOC but, i suggest to roll the US classic servers, no buffbots, no TOA and a very healthy population. You can grinding together in groups from scratch to level 50, more then enough epic dungeon raids, lots of guilds looking for more members and enough crafters to help template yourself. And lots of all kind sort of RvR.

Hey

Im thinking about buying Daoc. I have been looking for a game that suites me and I think this one may be it. I have previosly played WoW and Guild wars and im am 15.

Im wondering...

1. Is there good open PvP?
I hated the instanced pvp in wow and although guildwars pvp was in depth and great I just could not get into since it was all instanced.

2.Will this game take up all of my time?
I am a highschool student and play on 2 sports teams, I got addicted to Wow a couple years back and don't want that to happen again.

3. Is it possible to jump right into Pvp Combat
In wow it took me months to get my character level 60 and ready for pvp, by the I was ready for some pking the pvp system had already been destroyed

4. How does Realm vs Realm work?

Not worth the time/hassle to start, trust me :|
