Granted this is a, kinda, 'omg lolz I'm coming to London' thread but I'd really appreciate some tips. I'm going from wed night to sun so I've a few hours to spare. The main things I'm looking for are decent pubs and something to do on sat which is fun and, as much as possible, outdoors.

So does anyone have tips for pubs in london. Within Zone 2 would be great :p
I'm looking for any pubs really, but individual pubs which are memorable would be great.

Um, bit of a wide area to cover there. What part of London are you staying in?

I quite liked the London Eye, it was very tranquil but worth doing.

I figured that would be best, have a lot to choose from. I'm staying near Maida Vale but I've a whole day to waste on Thur so I'd not be averse to hopping on the tube and travelling to the pub. (hence zone 2 :))

Cheers G, I've done the London eye before. Got lots of photo's from it, including a cool one of alexander(I think?) palace lit-up by sunlight.

Nice, might give that a miss. :p

I meant zone 2 as the outer limit since it's a circle. I assumed people would figure zone 1 is included.

I have been chased down the street by a proper scary looking prossie in the past.

Lots to do really...

Bus Tour
London Eye
Tower of London
London Dungeons
Madame Tussauds
China Town
British Museum
Tate Modern
Science Museum
Buckingham Palace
Houses of Parliament
Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms
HMS Belfast
St Pauls Cathedral
London Aquarium
River Cruise

As far as pubs go...well there are far too many to recommend a single one....but you could check out this one:

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese (reputedly one of the oldest pubs in London)

145 Fleet Street, EC4
Tel: +44 (0)20 7353 6170
Tube/Rail: Blackfriars
The oldest parts of this historic pub date back to the 17th century and the period can still be felt in the decor with sawdust on the floor, Victorian paintings on the walls and large open fires. A wide range of luminaries have drank here throughout history including Dr Johnson, Dickens, Thackery, Conan Doyle and Voltaire.

or you can go to
Waxy O'Conners
14-16 Rupert Street, W1
Tel: +44 (0)20 7287 0255
Tube: Piccadilly Circus
Huge pub on six levels in the heart of the West End. An unusual interior with stained glass windows and an enormous preserved beech tree. It has four bars and serves Irish inspired food.

Actually one of the only half-decent pubs in central London, although if you wanted a slightly more authentic Irish pub I'd recommend the O'Connor Don (couple of streets north of Oxford Street, not far from Selfridges), nice food and table service, and a decent pint too.

Btw - when u come into London - don't wear a long coat with a backpack - you'll probably be shot on sight.

Great Guinness and one of the best all day breakfasts you can buy in London. The ornate wood work in the lower bar and balcony areas is quite amazing. Definitely recommend it.

Cheers for the suggestions, I've been in waxy's up here and it'a a top pub. :D

As for the touristy things, Tower of London is favourite at the moment.

I looked up a few pubs and the cheshire cheese was favourite and another old one near london bridge. :)
