Columbia's safe. Colombia less so , but still ok if you're careful.

seriously though. travel. more expensive is not always more fun. with 4k you could see a goodly portion of Europe, have a blast in Asia, etc.

Mate, there is tonnes of stuff to do. Personally, I'd find somewhere in Asia to just chill out, do some skydiving over awesome places. I can recommend Malaysia, perhaps Lankawi.

One option is to save it and enjoy a carefree life with some rainy day cash. If you look around your local area you'll probably find more then 2 months of stuff to do, especially if you go looking

Go visit places that you've wanted to go, wether that be like Rome, Athens, Paris, Eygypt etc to see the wonders. or Thailand to see the ladybois, or Austraillia to see the sun, or American to see the monkeys that run the world!! Just do something you won't regret, don't be pressured into doing someones else's idea. Failing that, my council tax needs paying.......

My brother actually did his through BA. Got a 10 stop ticket for ~£3000, he could pick and chose the destinations along the way so long as they complied with a few rules. This was however about 10 years ago, so i dont know if they do it anymore.....

Did it in 2006. Glad I did but it only makes sense as part of a wider trip.

Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda are the places to be if you want a true authentic experience, depending on the sort of safari you desire. - yes I've tried both, several time + I grew up in africa so FO!

With the time frame you have in mind however, I'd say Stick to Europe or Asia and see as much as you can andspread out the expenses to last you through the couple of months you have.
Another option would be to buy a cheap flight to the carabian and spend the time island hopping - Never been to the States ? Fly to the East coast, rent/buy a car and gogo!

Dont forget tho. That your safari will cost you more, by a fiar bit, than the list price. When you actually out and about there are alot of "roadblocks" or checkpoints that cost $10 per person in the vehicle or similar.
One of the guys in the office went the summer just gone and his party of 4 spent massively more than planned due to this

Indeed, safari is very expensive, especially in Kenya.
What I'd do is plan a trip to Eastern Africa with a safari stop as part of the trip.
After all africa as soooo much more to offer than Lions and Elephants.
