oh, yeah, things I like about the USA....

having never been there I will have to base my thoughts on the three americans I have met "irl" since turning 18 and on the things my girlfriend said after coming back from New York. point being that other than nature documentaries I don't believe that I've ever seen anything that is "really" american or constitutes anything that can be taken seriously (besides blatant disregarding of human rights and/or wars. you know. the regular things on the news. and besides, the question was what I like, not what I didn't like). this means I'm disregarding friends, american chopper and lots of bad movies.

which leaves me with exactly three things, and strangely two of them are food. ahem.

things tdc likes about america:
  • the pumkin pie
  • the ben&jerry's ice cream (though they might actually be canadian for all I know)
  • the 1970 Buick GS 455

that's about it.

They're from Vermont - one of Maine's neighbor-states, ie. I have a neverending supply of B&J's Cherry Garcia ice cream available. Garr!

Hmmm... not anymore - I pay about $2.20 for a gallon of gas (3.5 something litres) - and cars here have a much higher fuel consumption.
When I bought my Forester end of last year I paid about $18 to fill the tank - now it's about $25ish. Gas prices have gone up like crazy here.

That's 73c per litre: that's about 39p a litre at current rates? That's fucking cheap. I filled my car up last night, 91p a litre (i need 98 ron) - read it and weep (rejoice?); I can't believe anyone can bleet about 39p a litre.

True, your cars may guzzle a lot more fuel and it may yin and yang out that you end up paying the same; but by christ i'd fucking love to be filling up my economical car to the tune of 39p per litre.

Heh... well, I'm a German living in America - Mrs. Sick is the yankee.
Therefore I need to be double-stereotyped. :D *goose-steps away*
